I guess you can take your own car out and have at it on a road course. I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried this, and how it went

I haven't tried them myself, but I was discussing their program with another driver at a recent HPDE who had run one of their events. His comments were fairly negative when it came to event organization and safety. He indicated that all drivers were allowed to run without an instructor, regardless of their experience level. If a driver ASKED for an instructor, one would be provided. Personally, I would not want to get on a track with other novice drivers sans instructors. But hey, that's just me.

That's the general concesus of a lot of people. The events themselves are great for getting some more track time, and seeing how fast you really are, but when you're an advanced driver running with new guys, it's not so great.

yeah, new people have a tendency to take interesting lines thru turns, and do other things that you just wouldnt expect.

Thank you. that is what i was looking for. I thought it would be a good way to get in some drive time, but I need people that drive at my level. If this place is filled with yahoos and fools, I dont need the headache.
You just saved me $$ - Thank you

Where are you located? There are a number of organizations that put on safe, educational track events. If you're in the mid-Atlantic area, MazdaDrivers, CarGuys, NASA, BSR are just a few of the better groups. If you live elsewhere, head to the closest track with a road circuit and ask around. You'll be glad you did.
