Question Recall service

I just got around to having my two recalls done. I also complained about the engine stumbling when first started and the tranny whining. Hard to shift from 3-4 gear when above 5Krpm and the air conditioner cycling every 5 seconds cool/warm.
Here is what I got . The recalls were done no problem, they did not break my stay damper.
The a/c "functions as designed"
The tranny noise "functions as designed"
The hard shifting from 3rd to 4th gear "functions as designed"
The stumbling when cold starts......updated to most recent PCM calibration. But the technician could not tell me if it was the L or the M flash. I tried the 20 brake taps in 8 sec and did not see a oil gauge sweep.
I am really not happy with the A/C it is already getting to 80-90 degrees here.
I will continue to drive the car as hard as I feel like it. If the tranny is bad it will break, if not it will just whine.
Anybody got any ideas on checking the PCM flash. I'll try the brake tap again in the AM but that is all I know to do to check it.

I must have missed that post -- What's with the 20 brake taps? I took mine in this morning for the recall and got the same answer on the A/C. Mine works fine, I just wasn't sure about the cycling.

I noticed my A/C cycling last week end. It was 80 and the air definitely went cold then warmed up 20 deg and got cold again. I didn't notice this last fall. I am going to bring it in next week for this, the L patch, and the oil pan. I tried to get the oil pan last time and he said they would have to see the light LOL. I wasn't going to let them drive it around to the light came on. Now they say it must be changed light or no light. I just don't understand the reluctance of the dealer to not do TSB's. I understand they don't pay as much but they still pay. This dealer doesn't seemed to be that busy. I sure am not going to pay him for any service in the future.

Turn your key until the lights come on but not actually starting the engine. Tap your break quickly 20 times within 8 seconds. The oil meter pointer will sweep left to right and back if you have L Flash or above. I verified mine.

It takes some practice.. I tried it at least 5-6 times before I got it right.

The key is to stomp (not hard) on the brake consistently.

Actually.. is there any way to tell the difference between an 'L' flash and an 'M' flash?

My service rep says the updates don't follow that naming convention. He has no idea which revision he flashed my car.

Look at the TSB on the "M" flash and you can see where the letter "M" is derived from.

sounds like your experience was liek mine at my dealer. just get on a direct line with the service manager before you go back. that way you don't have to deal with the service guys and fight with them. you will pretty much know where they stand once you speak to the guy who runs the dept.

The Dealer does not call the update by the letter name we refer to on this forum..

The key is to find out what level the Dealers computer is on.

If they are not up to 30.6 or higher you probably wont get the "M"
