Unhappy Recall on my RX8

Well boys.. I just found out today that my car has a recall on it.. Im new here as you all probably know, and I've been lurking around here for quite some time. I saw alot of trouble threads with the RX8's and it brought some concerns with my car. I finally cracked down today and called Courtesy Mazda and yes.. My car does have some faults..

The first thing they said was that my engine was not producing enough horse power, the second was that my side passenger airbags are faulty. So I made an appointment tomorrow to take it in and hopefully everything will be ok

Hey! Only 30 minutes?? They told me they were going to keep my car over night and give me a rental. Are they going to do that "M" thing?

How did the dealer get away with not fixing the car before they sold it?

I dont know, when I first bought it it was perfect.. it ran fine and there was no sign of trouble. But now I'm gonna be stuck with driving a rental for like 2 days.

I called Courtesy Mazda to complain about a rattling sound that occurs when I press the gas pedal. He told me that it was normal and gave me some technical crap that I didnt understand and asked for my VIN number to see if there were any recalls.. So I did, and come to find out that my car was faulty.. So I suggest that you call your Mazda dealer, give them your VIN number and see whats up with your car.

Look under the hood, you should see two stickers indicating recall work was performed. Dealership is SUPPOSED to put those stickers on there, but they may not.

I'd like to hear that technical explanation. I've heard this very subtle rattle noise, too. But I only hear it in 4th gear, and it's very hard to hear.

What a descriptive post..

My concern is the recalls are MONTHS old by now. They were supposed to fix these cars prior to sale.

Hmm, my dealer did the "M" thing and airbag recall in about an hour - but that was with them squeezing me in first thing in the morning after I complained about the recall not being done (not their fault)...

"I called Courtesy Mazda to complain about a rattling sound that occurs when I press the gas pedal."

This being my first rotary vehicle I'm not sure if what I'm about to say really applies, but isn't a "rattling sound that occurs when I press the gas pedal" a sign that the car is detonating? Of course it could be some other rattling sound, but I would be concerned if I heard rattling.

Best description I could give of detonating or "pinging" as its sometimes referred to is of marbles rattling around in a tin can.

DIE COURTESY MAZDA DIE.

Does your Rx-8 have the little ugly courtesy pyramid thing on the back? I was thinking about going down and test driving a car, pretending like I was going to buy it, and right as I went to sign doing something like "well I guess all thats left is to dot the Is and cross th--what the **** is that??? <tearing up papers> SCREW THIS Im out of here".

Do that enough times and maybe they'll get it through their thick skulls not to put those things on the back.

Also Courtesy Group is the worst in the Valley in general for just about everything.

there have only been 2 recalls for the RX-8. 1 for the ac amplifier and 1 for the tranny damper bracket. why has your car been at the dealer for a month?

sniff... sniff...

I smell troll! "Recalls out the ***" is just a bit of hyperbole, dontcha think? The two (yes that's 2) recalls issued by Mazda to date were performed on my car in one day. Dropped off in the AM, picked up after work.

Yea the recall did'nt take long at all.. when I first got ahold of Mazda they said that I'd have to get a rental.. but when I took it in it took them like an hour and a half to flash the car. I stayed at the dealer drinking coffee and eating there complimentary donuts. :D

"The first thing they said was that my engine was not producing enough horse power..."

And, what do they / did they intend to do about that?
