Recall, Engine Problems, lawsuits, class action, Sum it all up!
woo - thanks for the update. does this confirm that the sky is falling?
C'mon - "surprise it's winter when you get your car back"?? Estimated time for engine replacement by Mazda = 1 week. So, by your calculations, winter in Vegas sets in about mid September. Here's a little geography lesson for you - you're a tool.

There are only 4 "my engine stalled in traffic" complaints for 2004 RX8 on the NHTSA web site. Only 1 for 2005 RX8. Zero for 2006 RX8. None resulted in crash, injury or death. If you're counting on it, that's probably not enough for the government to take any action. It's a mechanical problem, not a safety problem at this point - which Mazda seems to be addressing.

You're all going to get a reflash to improve the engine, and if you need a new engine you'll get one. Also, you can thank mazda for increasing their warranty by 1 year and 10,000 miles.
I'd really like to see how a lawsuit will go down..

I live in San Diego. I took my car to the dealer yesterday for an oil change. It's an April 2005 build with 7,700 miles on it and no problems so far.
The dealer had the information about the recall and performed the recall test. There were no problems noted. He reflashed it and replaced the two leading spark plugs.
No muss, no fuss, no new engine.

Just thought I would ask here because I am not starting a new thread and it goes with this anyway,
Did I hear right that our warranty is now 60k? is that bumper to bumper or just tranny and such?? or just a farse?

That pdf is what they will send. That's how I read it, anyway. It mentions a card for the owner to put w/the manual regarding the extension. Plus it asks for new owner info from those owners no longer in possession of the 8.
it is in your informatin in the mazda database as well. it shows under "recalls" section like the free maintenance does. so if the dealer does a vIN look up on you they will see an "open" program and when they click thru the details will tell them about the extended warranty
Let me sum up how BAD Mazda treated me during my ordeal with the RX-8.
1. I had to have an engine replacement which took 2 months last summer. They reimbursed me for every payment while the car was out of action.
2. They gave me a free 100K bumper to bumper warranty.
When the car still had issues I started the buyback process which took a whole 2 weeks. I thne purchased a Mazdaspeed 6 in replacement with no credit check or hassle with the new lease.
They did all these things quickly and without any arguments, why do you need to always sue. A couple of carefully worded letters and one or two phone calls is all it took.
I am a happy owner of a MS6 and I think Mazda is THE best customer service orientated car company period. I have heard horror stories with other people dealing with Nissan, Honda & Toyota - once you buy they do not care one bit baout you.
Thanks Mazda!! and I hope the RX-8 issues are sorted, because they are great cars (I still miss mine).

UK_BLACK, was most of your dealings with MAZDA NA or your local dealership? My dealings with Mazda NA have been good, the dealer another story and I think that goes for most people.
