Thanks for the speedy reply. Any thoughts on why they left this feature out of the us vehicles?

To keep the cost down. Mazda should've at least offered the automatic climate control as an option.

i dont get it - if it was standard on every car in all marketrs wouldnt it save more cost since they wouldnt have to have 2 different units? its cost related somehow- maybe it would add enough dollars that they thought it would push it out of the range they wanted in the US?

I agree it should be available. But there may be other issues we don't know about. Like a required royality in the USA, or production capacity of the vendor, etc. If a capacity issue, then why couldn't that be resolved by the 2006 model? Possibly they were planning to add it, but when the sales were below plans, Mazda felt it wasn't worth adding it.

I want a mpg meter like most vehicles have now. That would help me adjust my driving when I do care about mileage. Normally 6th is best to use as much as possible, but when pulling a hill with a head wind at 50? May be 5th or even 4th would be better.

Sweet, indeed, but like you say, $1,400??? Maybe in my next life.

I already have 3 AutoMeter Cobalt gauges and am waiting for RB to release their pod which installs in the ashtray/cig lighter area. Certainly not as nice as the japanparts pod, but I'm sure it will be considerably cheaper. Thanks!!
