The lights are all LED's mounted on a circuit board. They'll have to change the audio panel.

Strange, I had the same problem a couple weeks ago. I whacked the panel with the flat of my hand and the lights returned. Hope it stays lit. Just another of the irritating little problems with the RX-8. If she didn't handle so well, I'd be rid of her.

It is possible the audio is not sitting in its module correctly.
Or that the connectors between the audio and module have been damaged by a technician trying to remove the audio without first removing all the screws (this results in the circuit board being bent/broken. Have you had work done that involves removing the audio?

The only way to check this is to remove the audio panel, remove the audio, and check the connector/circuit board.

I have the EXACT same problem. #'s 2 and 3 do not light. It doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes they'll be out when I turn on the car. Sometimes, they'll flicker a little bit and then go out or flicker and then stay on. Sometimes, they'll just turn off... I can't seem to find any common denominator that would cause it to happen. No big bumps, temp, humidity, etc... I took it to the dealer and of course, they could not duplicate it. I haven't been so bold as to smack it yet. Oh well, something minor I may have to get used to...
