Question that needs an answer
I bought an 04 silver rx8 3 weeks ago and totaled it this week. It was a 4 speed sunlight siver 30k mile on engine(109k on body). The car would be 8200$ to fix and insurance gave me 2 options
Take $8500 and be done with it
Take $6700 and keep my salvaged car (Pay the difference to get it fixed)
I recently found an 04 black rx8 6 speed with 80k on the body and apparently under 200 miles on the engine and catalytic converter (with new plugs coils and wires) for an asking price of 7600$
Should I buy this new rx8?????? I bought my silver one for 7k flat. Is stick worth driving? I've never driven one but I have been in many manual cars and I definitely could do it I just have never been behind the wheel in a stick

Take the $8500 and let the old one go. Nice $1500 profit. Way better than spending $1500 and winding up with less than what you had before.
Besides being MT, the black one will get you away from the curse of silver. And you'll have $900 in your pocket. Spend some of that on a driving class, which will help you learn to anticipate when cars ahead of you are likely to stop.

Yes, take the money, not the totaled car. There are a few circumstances I'd advocate the opposite, but none of them seem like they would apply to you at the moment, and none of them would ever see the totaled car back on the road (parts car, part out, expensive mods that make up the difference if you can remove them, etc...)

Yes please do NOT buy the car back. IT is a 4 port and speed automatic for one which is not worth your time. You will get the car back and pay $8000 for it to be worth like half that instantly because it is a salvage vehicle.

Take the money. If you want to own a rx8 look for a manual. It is way more fun, has more power, and less issues. If you end up buying the one you are currently looking you could upgrade the interior to leather, if that is what you really want. You could find a good deal on a used leather interior from a totaled rx8...

every time someone gets into an accident and others post about how big of a careless idiot the op is, it makes me wish more and more that when one of the posters gets into an accident of his own caused by his own carelessness there was a very large man who knocks on the window and says "Remember that reply you made?"... And then have it on video too.

No one actually commented about the OP's actions related to the accident... The single post that might be construed that way was actually a question on if those interior pieces are really that valuable. Just made in a rhetorical way.
