are there any sounds or anything that I should be listening for if there is something wrong with the engine, or anything that I would feel or notice while I'm driving it? Let the car idle with the clutch out and listen to see if it whines really loud. Aslo try shifting at redline a few times to see how smooth 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 are. If you dont want to go that fast try like 1-3 1-4. try applying the breaks LIGHTLY and listen for a squeek. Read this. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=116484

Oh, and What price range should I be looking at for an '05? around 15k?

I have an '04 MT GT with 82,000 miles. Runs as good as the day I got it.

Ignore those who say "04's have issues". It's really the Automatics that have the issues. Get a manual '04 with all the recalls done and it's no less reliable than any other year.
