Protek-R

Hi everyone, long time board visitor, first time poster.
Let me introduce myself first.
My name is John, 24 years of age, and lives in Madison, WI .
I have a 2005 sun light silver RX-8 6mt as my weekend car, and a 2002 silver Lancer (non-Evo) for daily driver.
The Mazda had just recently hit the 30,000 mile mark, and I have decided to start using pre-mix.
I have heard great things about Protek-R, and it seems very convenient as it comes in 4 oz packs.
I placed an order for 20 pk box a couple of weeks ago from Pettit Racing, but I guess it's been on the back order and might not be in stock for a while.
Just wonderig if anyone know if there's another vendor/site that carries them?
I'd just like to start pre-mixing ASAP, and I'm sure having extra packs wouldn't hurt.
Anyways, thanks in advance, and hopefully to contribute to this board to the best of my ability.

No, but some speculated it was the coloring. A few people have had issues with clogged fuel pump socks and failing pumps. I wouldn't want to add that kind of residue into the mix. Personally, I use Idemitsu, which is designed as a rotary premix in close association with Mazda, and FP Plus as a lubricious cleaner containing cyclohexanone, which emulsifies carbon into a colloidal graphite lubricant.

That's great insight, thanks for the heads up.
I think an official statement from Pettit Racing regarding this would be the best thing for both us, the consumers, and Pettit Racing the company.

I also decided to use Idemitsu. I just ordered 4 qts. to get me started (I'll get a case or two when I have more spare money). I'm doing low dose with my 09 (probably 1 oz. per quarter-tank fill-up). I still have to figure out what kind of container(s) I'm going to use to do the measuring and poring, but I haven't finished going through the very lengthy thread about premixing, yet. I'm only on page 13!

I've also been waiting for the Protek R as well because of the convenience. When I called Pettit Racing, they had mentioned they were awaiting on delivery of their "convenient" 4 oz. bottles. I guess the bottle manufacturer was giving them issues.

Ok here's an update:

I just called out of curiousity again to see what the status of my Protek R order was at. They still haven't received the 4 oz bottles back from their bottling company hence- the items are still on back order.

I was about to cancel the order and go with the Idemitsu Pre-Mix, but they offered to change the order to include a full gallon (stand out guys) minus the convenient packaging for a great price. Plus he said he'll try to find some empty 4 oz bottles for me and include it in the package!

Pettit Racing.....they truly care for the customers and Rotary heads!
