Protecting your RX-8

Hello fellow rotary nuts,

I am a new member here, i bought my RX-8 about 4 weeks ago with 104 miles. Got a 2006 Brilliant Black with a 6-Speed and a 6-Disc, need i say more? (its got a wing) Have to admit, i practically stole it from the dealer with a sales price of 22,500, i almost felt guilty buying it at that price.

But anyway, i'm concerned about the radiators on my car, they seem, so fragile with such little protection from rocks, dings, and various road debris. Does anyone know of any after market parts that provides some protection without being an eyesore/performance hindrance?

Did you buy it from Great Valley? I almost got that black one but decided to take a blue one instead. That black one (yours?) looked very nice, though.

Does your $22,500 price already include tax and fees?

Actually i did buy it from great valley, ironic, and that price was before taxes, that jumped it up about 4 grand (love them taxes) but my trade was enough to offset that completely and then some. Blue one eh? hmm, yeah that woulda been a nice color also, i definetly like the black a lot though, makes me feel like hasslehoff from knight rider. I'll post pics this weekend once i wash/detail it.

Welcome and congrats!

Now with the money you saved, spend it on a clear bra while your paint is still in tip-top shape if you plan on keeping your 8 for a long while Google "xpel". Our cars have relatively thin paint and chip easily esp. on the highway.

There were three '06 cars when I went there in Feb -- 2 winning blues and 1 brilliant black (yours). I took the blue one. A few days later, one guy here asked me about the other blue one and I told him he could get it for cheap -- and he got it. I went back to GV a few weeks later to do FQI and noticed the black one was also gone. That's the story.

Make sure the floor mat hook is installed and go back there to do the FQI soon. Tell them to do MSP16, too. Also do they give you two flip keys?

if it was an 06, it wasnt new. so it had some miles. if it has some miles 22.5k was not a steal. especially since you said 4k was tacked on.

when i signed up i was a bit bummed to find out that what i paid for my rx8 (gt, $21k otd, 20k miles) was up to 4 grand more than what similar people paid for just slightly higher mileage rx8s.

but 22.5k is a decent price, i'll give you that.

congrats.

The OP said it had 104 miles. Thats new....There are 06's sitting on the lots still. I bought mine in 06, and it was an 06 and it had 124 miles on it...test drives... moving it around. They add up..

Sweet ride, and sweet deal. Congrats and welcome to the club.

Actually they did give me 2 keys, but i did notice that hook is gone underneath the seat, i did get the all weather floormats and carpet mats though, so i have 2 sets, but i'll see about getting that hook installed free.

I think i already took it in for the FQI after around 500 miles, i only have 1 day a week i can take it in. i only drive her on the weekends.

rddragoness btw, i love the color of your RX8!!
