Premix and emissions warranty

Alright I've searched and haven't found a whole lot on this particular subject so I suppose I'll ask. I just bought an 05 mt rx8 with 61000mi on sat. I'm driving it today and I get a cel p0420 "catalyst efficiency monitor malfunction bank 1" my question is, I started premixing on sunday, a couple oz's of this http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ier=82034_0_0_ to a full tank of gas
assuming my cat is dead, will that void my warranty? Thanks for the help

There are a lot worse things in pump gasoline than premix ... no it wont void warranty but I wouldn't go advertising it. Make no mention of it, cat failures are common enough with this car that they wont grill you as to why.

And in general premix wont really kill your cat unless your premixing with half the bottle ... but then you would have far more problems than just a blown cat lol

i would at least get a free OEM replacement cat from the dealer first and then go out and get a highflow cat.

First time I heard this...didn't know there was a gasolene baseline considering each company has their own additives and detergents. Would the concentration of premix amongst those other chemicals even be negligible

I suppose it would be kind of tough to single out a premix especially if the concentration is low enough

So I dropped the car off at the local dealership(forgetting to take my premix kit out of the trunk ) they called at 930 this morning and said it was a bad converter and they would order it first thing monday morning. They also flashed the most recent flash and didn't charge me a dime. Awesome

Matt Castrucci in Miamisburg OH. They've been good so far. We'll see how long it takes them to get the part in.
