What the heck..... somebody help this guy.

If it's still under warranty, I'd take it to another dealership and insist that they fix whatever's wrong.

When the car is in gear at the light, do you take your foot off of the clutch?

OK I will answer ya... is it under 60k miles??? if so it is still covered under warranty. Tell the dealer to fixit. If they will not go to another dealer. Also do the basic tuneup-coils,plugs,wires. DO NOT have the dealer do the tuneup they will rape ya on parts and labor... buy the plugs from Sparkplugs.com they are about $20 each. Get the coils from finishlineperformance.com they run about $30 each. Rx8starkes.com has plug wires for $75.

hope this helps...

There is more to go for besides just spark plugs. We also have the wires and the coils.

Do you notice a lack of power above 4k rpm? Have you had any recent or past flooding incidents? Does it sound like your car is struggling to get rpms higher?

If you answered yes to any or all of these, I would recommend you ask the dealership to check the catalytic converter. If it is clogged/burnt up, then the exhaust cannot escape and choke off the engine idle. It might even throw a CEL eventually, but maybe not a big enough of an engine issue to cause that yet.

Air filter would be another good check...easy and quick. If it is clogged it could also be choking down the engine if it can't breathe.

Does your car start back up immediately after stalling?

Last I can think of is the throttle body area. I'm not sure if the rx8 has an "idle air control valve" but I have had to clean this on my gf's '98 Sentra a couple times. Her car would only stall at an idle and it was due to the IACV not fully opening when at idle and the car would die. If she would give the car some gas in Neutral the car would be fine...only on idle would it die. It would also crank right back up.

Once all the gunk was cleared out it would work for about another year until another cleaning.

Nezi87,

This exact issue happen to me before. There is a DIY in here that you can search for. Your throttle body is dirty with carbon built up where the butterfly is. Use fine sand paper and clean it. The problem will disappear.

when it shuts off ill wait like 2 minutes then it starts again ..the longer i drive my car then it happens if i got to work n bak itll be fine wich takes about 10 min if i take it out on the road for longer theres a bigger chance of it shutting down so something is over heating and shutting my car down
