Passenger Seat Comfort

Some background information: My first car back in the 1980s when I first started working was a 1982 RX-7, which I loved. I thought it would be kind of neat to bookend my career with another rotary engined car. I am thinking of getting an RX-8 and took my significant other to take a look at them. She sat in the passenger side and noted that there was a noticeable "bulge" on the floor just to the right of the center console. The salesperson said it was the transmission. My significant other thought about getting into a comfortable position for long drives and said that she would be unable to do so. Either her left foot would be higher than the right one, or her legs would be forced into veering to the right if she stretched out while the rest of her body would be sitting straight. In both cases, she thought it would be uncomfortable for road trips.

Have any of your passengers commented on this "bulge" during long drives, reducing their comfort while riding in your car? And how do I overcome this objection?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Nope...but if my passengers complain I usually just tell them to shutup or start walking

I am 6'4" and have no problems getting confortable with the hump. If anything the "uncomfortable" part when I am trying to sleep is the stiff suspension, but a pillow would solve that.

When my gf got in the car the first time she said "oh look, they were nice enough to install a handy purse holder over here, how cute!" Her legs go right over the top of it, and when I have sat over there I haven't noticed it.

I go to college and I have this huge 3 hour break in between two classes so I go to my car and sleep. I keep a pillow in the trunk now due to the rotor shaped holes/insert in the seats.

Sounds like you're driving too slow, if she has time to complain about leg room. She should be complaining about her knuckles getting stiff from lack of blood flow as she holds on.

but I haven't really had a problem with that "bulge" since I usually sleep sorta sideways when I'm in the passenger seat so its kinda functioned as a rest

Bulge

The only bulge that should matter to a woman is the one in your pants

My wife uses it for her purse too.
