parking lot experiences
Maybe it is just me, but a lot could have 200 empty spaces, I park way out of the way, yet some dumbass has to park one foot from the side of my car. I have only owned my 09 RX-8 for a couple of months and this has happened to me a few times already. I already had a PDR shop pop out a few door dings that were unfortunately present when I bought the car. I don't need to keep getting new dents. I swear these idiots search out a nice car parked by itself. Usually I park where there is a empty space on only one side, yet when I come back to my car there is some POS right next to it. Man, I just want to strangle these #$holes!
The other great scenario is there is no one beside you when you park, but come back and the largest damn Trucks/SUVs on the planet are squeezed in on both sides of you.
Mine is only a Silver, Sport model. You lucky guys with the Red/Blue/Black R3s probably draw even more unwanted attention.
Other than this annoyance, I'm loving the car.

hey now, never say just a silver one. I like the silver metalic color especially in texas where it keeps the car from being 150 inside in the summer. I've always been privy to liking silver vehicles though.
on a second note I've always been one to park way out in the boonies, and it really doesn't matter someone will always park close to you.

Poor choice of words. Really like the Silver. Only complaint is paint seems kind of thin and prone to chip easily. Also have no problem with it only being the 'Sport' model. Would have been nice if the Sport came with DSC and Traction Control, but oh well. Still equipped pretty decent for the base model.

That's what I was thinking. Was a little unsure about the poor gas mileage and how it would drive in our CO winters. Still a Series II, which I think is good. Kind of giving it a 2 or 3 year test drive and then I can always trade up to a GT or R3 if I feel the need.
Very happy to have this nice of sports car for under 20K. I don't hear too many people say this, but the rear seating with the suicide doors is what finally sold me. It is awesome that my 9 and 12 year old can sit comfortably in the back. Can't say the same for the Mustang or Camaro.
Sorry to go off topic a little.

Be thankful you've got silver. I've got one of the rare Black Cherry Mica 8's. The damn touchup paint doesn't even match!
This world is full of douchebags. Sadly, they are outbreeding smart people 20-to-1.

Yes, it's fu*king unbelieveable. Seems like the only thing that'll get some out-of-shape moron to not park as close to the store as possible is my RX-8.
I don't get it either. I just don't get it.

I think it's fundamentally related to the following phenomenon:
Lunch is my rime to read. I usually go out late so the restaurants are mostly empty as I settle in and open my book. Invariably some worn out soccer mom with three unruly children in tow will show up and, out of an entire empty restaraunt of tables to choose from, will pick the table right next to the guy who's trying to read.

Jacob shows the best way to park the 8. Also don't park next to
1. cars older than 10 years old coz their doors swing all freely,
2. cars that look dirty and unmaintained on the outside
3. SUVs, wagons or obvious family cars

Ha ha.. I use to love parking my 12 year old Buick next to nice cars.
Why? Cause I never had a dent. I had perfect paint.
And they didn't park far enough away. Just far enough for a walk but they should have parked farther.
So I parked next to them to screen the car from idiots who surely would have taken the spot.
Sure enough when I come back. The lot is full around us with trucks and SUV's.
Still if the sports car parked too close, I would park farther away.
Even in a 12 yr old car I would get the SUV's parking next to me.
Those idiots have to climb in and out. When they do that they don't care about the door swing and bashing against other cars.
Sometimes its fun to go to a shopping center and watch the idiots park their SUV's and Trucks.
