Option Deletes?

Has anyone ordered an 8 with options deleted? i.e.:

No stereo
No A/C
etc...

And does it save a penny?

Personally, I want:

Black
6-speed
Sport suspension
DSC
A/C

Delete everything else (I need the A/C)...

I know I'd have to get really creative with the stereo, but I've got a friend who runs a car stereo shop, and with what dealers usually charge for their stereos and my endless bad expereinces with Bose, I'd rather start from scratch.

I think DSC normally also comes with the Touring package, which has numerous other things I don't want...

Basically, is Mazda offering any flexibility here?

No. At least not at this time.

You are asking for the impossible. Even if you owned Mazda, to build a car like you want would cost more money than to leave the options on. For instance, to remove the stereo Mazda would have to design a blanked off faceplate and then pay for the manufcturing tooling to make the balnked plate. How do you propose to have DSC and no ABS? The DSC uses the same sensors, processors and actuators as ABS plus a few other sensors and an electronic throttle. Basically, one can consider ABS as a freeby if they have DSC.

Well said babylou. The "limited" option packages Mazda is offering is for time, cost, and other production reasons. They know that they will only have to produce the car in basically three or four major configurations with the only real option being the NAV (and the transmission of course). This makes it easier, faster and more profitable to manufacture the RX-8, also making it more affordable to the consumer.

I absolutely did not want the moonroof because I don't like the ones that extend out over the roof, and I prefer the solid roof anyway on the RX-8. I also did not want leather. I may have liked a couple of the other items in the touring or grand touring packages, but the negatives greatly outweighed the positives in getting anything other than the Sport Package for me.

I wasn't asking for DSC without ABS, I assumed from the documentation so far that DSC required ABS.

I just hoped not to have to spend two days and boku $ ripping out and replacing anything that said "bose."
