Oil dipstick

Tonight I filled up my tank and I wanted to check the oil level. I parked the car under a big light in the station so I could see the engine clearly. It was still too dark though since the hood blocked a lot of the light. I found the dipstick and when I tried to pull it out I almost pulled my arm! Im certinaly no weakling at all I just couldnt find the strength to remove the dipstick. Am I supposed to twist it around first? If so this would be the only car Ive ever had to use this much effort juts to check my oil! What do I need to do? Buy some special wrench just to take off the stick?

Sounds like the cap on the dipstick and the tube have dried out and "glued" themselves together. Just try twisting the cap by hand. if it's free it should come out, yes it is a tighter fit then most dipsticks on other cars. If it won't turn either goto the dealer (preferred) or grap some plyers and some good padding (like a thick towel, wrap a peace of towel around the cap only and twist with the plyers. Don't use to much forceyou could brake the tube or twist it.

this happened to me too.

The darn thing seemed to be 'glued' on.

I guess it was never checked before and the heat and fumes must have stuck it on pretty tightly.

nonetheless I yanked it off finally and the oil left on the edge of the tub lubricated the rubber plug.

If your scared, just put a drop or two of oil on the rubber plug and twisted it back and forth until it comes lose.
