Newb to forums and the 8

Whats up all. In about a year (yeah I know its to far but I like doing my homework) I will be purchasing a new car. Yesterday I went to the Mazda dealer and looked at the Mazda RX8. The one big problem is my size (I'm 6 foot 6) and I tend to have a problem of fitting into sport compact cars. Well I looked at the RX8, and to be honest it wasn't as small inside as I thought it would have been. I had about an inch or two of headroom, and it was very comfotable, however I'm not sure if I could drive it everyday for 5 years and not have my "big boy space." Are there any members on here that are around me height? If so does the size of the car and your height affect you when you drive? I'm really curious to know.

Onto the RX8. I LOVED the car. I honestly fell in love with it when I drove it. I felt that the quality was amazing (I drive a Ford truck, yes it runs still like new and I like it, but the quality is not great). The fit and finish of it was great. I only had one complaint was the fact that it took Premium Fuel, but then again it will still be less than my truck (not by to much though). I took the RX8 for a spin, and it was a 6 speed manual. Put it this way, when I came back into the dealer's lot, the salesman looked at me and said "Boy you really know how to drive the car don't you? You manhandled that thing!"

Anyway, I was very pleased with the RX8, the acceleration was great, and the handling....there's not even a word to describe it, AWESOME. I deff. want to consider one of these, however I would like to hear from some of the tall members on this website so I can now if I'm sacrificing anything, or if it's all good.

Great forum and keep it up!!

If your going to track (helmet room) your 8 try and get one without a sunroof. The Sunroof takes up about 2" of headroom.

I'm 6'5" and have the GT model. no problem whatsoever concerning headroom. in fact i have 2-3 inches before my head hits the sunroof...

I do have the seat all the way back so there is NO legroom for the person behind me... I rarely let people sit in the back anyway

I am in the same boat as the OP. I am more than a year away from getting my next car (most likely an rx8 but my options are still open at this point) but this is the type of homework that I don't mind doing.

6'2" here, with a sunroof, no problems what-so-ever, except in the morning, for some reason in the morning I always sit higher up and I'll bang my head against the ceiling for a while until I wake up a bit more and settle down (hitting the ceiling does help in waking up though I'll admit)
