hello people. I am new to the forum and mazda. I purschased my 40th rx8 in May 2008. It drives great and gets lots of attention from people. For some reason nissan 350z owners always want to race me. Does it happen to you guys/gals as well? Well, I only have 2k miles on it and not ready to redline it yet.
I love my car except for some ratttles in the cabin and the ugly red interior lights. I was wondering if it is possible to change the light bulbs for the interior? has anyone done this? Cool blue gauge lights would be awesome.

 

Welcome and congrats. Your gauge lights (text) can be turned to white if you scroll the dimmer wheel all the way up (I assume the newer 8's still do this?). The 350z is always compared to the RX-8 so this will happen. Your car should be broken in by now at 2000 miles so don't be afraid to redline it as it is actually recommended do to so often once broken in. welcome... the lights can be changed easily you just need standard colored bulbs from any auto parts store.

What..??!! I love the interior lights...especially when they dim with the blueish tint... oh well..

the interior color is nice and the leather is even better.
I didn't mean to say the gauge lights, but rather the instrument panel lights that displays the temp, vent setting, and the radio red light color. this red color setting is rather ugly.
any tips for maintaining and cleaning the car for a life long trouble free operation?

 

I don't think there is a way to change the color of the instrument panel. YOu may be able to buy another one that someone made with a different color...or just replace the entire thing with something else!

the dash lights to white with the switch to the left of the wheel. Welcome, love my 40th, use Zaino, unbelivable, changes color shades depending on the light.

 

Welcome. The 350Z crowds like to race you because they hate it when their car plays second or third, or last fiddle to the rx-8 in the comparison magazines. So they like to use their eleventy billion pounds of torque to beat you so that they can feel better.... until they read another article again.
