New RX8 Owner

Hi guys,

Just wanted to say hi, I just got a 2005 RX8 GT with 41000km, which means I have a good left over of the Mazda warranty.

I wanted to thank all of you for the great information on this website.
This site and the mazdatuning.com website from Quebec (Im in montreal) helped me make my decision for this purchase.

I used to do allot of SOLO I / HPDE with my old Nissan Sentra SE 2001. Which I crashed (not my fault) on the road 2-3 years ago. Been driving shitboxes since and promised myself a toy, and here it is.

I wanted a RWD go kart and Im sure Ive made the right choice.

I wont be asking all the newbie questions because Ive spent the past 3 weeks reading everyone elses and the responses. However it is possible I will have missed something So bare with me for a month. I'll catch up real fast on the Renesis engine and general RX8 information.

Thanks again.

oh and

P.S. My only regret ? the damn sunroof. Im only 5'8" and I think Im going to have a hard time with helmets. Oh well...

im 5'10"

i do not have any real problem with helmets. unless you drive with the seatback straight up i dont think you'll have any problems either.

congrats on the 8.

thats crazy. i dont want to move more north than i already am. anything below 55 degrees is to cold for me.

i've always wanted to go to cali. but i recently found out that turbos there are emissions illegal. which kinda put a damper on that wish. :/

Sucks being in it, but I felt worse turning the key and making my 8 start (he did fine tho). Wish he had a warm garage and I could afford a beater.

Thanks everyone.

And unfortunatly, I do sit with my seatback up right, best seating position for racing/spirited driving. I guess I'll HAVE to turn it down a few notches

I hate it when I dont have a 90 degree angle with my arms on the steering wheel.

About the cold, its about -5 F up here with windchill. -20 Celcius

Damn cold. Starting the 8 this afternoon it reved up to 4000 ... almost scary, then slowly went down.

Damn remote starters with standard cars. You have to do an african rain dance before getting out of the car so its in the right MOOD to remote start, lol.
If you do it wrong... no remote start

Welcome. And sometimes it's hard to find the answer when you search.

I recomend subscribing or book marking those specific threads that you may want to refer to in the future.

Welcome bud, be sure to post in the Canadian section, eh?. Lot's of us there. Got your h'ice tires on I presume?

If you liked solo1 in the Sentra, you'll love it in the 8.
