Hello RX8Club,

I just bought a 2006 RX-8 about a week ago with 50,000km on it. I absolutely love it! I am only confused about one thing though.... is my 8 Velocity Red Mica or Shinka Copper Red in colour?

Thanks Hidef1080! I just purchased my 8 about a week ago and must have spent 20+ total hours on rx8club researching everything. Great website, lots of info. I have seen pictures of Velocity Red Mica and Shinka Copper Red and mine looks sort of in between, lol.

It looks like Copper, but I'm thinking there was a dark red available sometime somewhere?
I don't know where I got that idea. It was probably a mislabeled copper red on cars.com or something.

 

I'm thinking it may be a Copper as well... but I thought Shinka Copper Reds were a bit darker then this? Can anybody with a Shinka Copper Red confirm my 8 is a Shinka? Thanks!

Im about 98% sure its a copper red shinka, especially after looking at your album.

rims look darker - i believe the shinka rims were slightly different

has the rotary accents - these came on the shinkas from the factory

looks identical to copper red and there isnt a another dark red that im aware of anyways.

edit: If you have the white interior as well im 100% sure its a copper red shinka, but i cant tell from your pics.

 

well it's definitely not velocity red

 

would it not say "Shinka" on the door pillars....mine does. Also, my wheels are slightly different in color than other 8's

 

Ohh, the rims were taken from an '05 RX-8 because my 8 did not come with the original rims. No, there is nothing on the car that says Shinka. Also, the interior is white (or a light beige colour). Thanks for all the replies!

In Canada it was called a 'Special Edition' instead of a Shinka. You also have the special parchment coloured Alcantara seats.

I have the exact same package in the garage right now :D
