Whats up man, i also have a black 8 gt. great choice of colors, and i got it also used with about 17000 on it, and just remember that the rattle might just be the usual sound of the rotary, but if it seriously doesn't sound normal or is quite loud i say go to the dealer. If the warranty can't fix it then this site will, good luck.

Awesome... Congratulations! I've put about 31,000 hard-driven miles on mine, and it's done great. I'm sure you'll have many happy years with it!

Not sure what the rattling might be... Do you know which area of the car it seems to be coming from?

Tomorrow will mark 3 weeks that I got my 6 speed RX-8, and I love it. I have wanted one for a while and finally found a good deal on one.

If the noise disappears when you step on the clutch I think its the throwout bearing

haha i thought the same thing. anyways, congrats on your new purchase, and nice choice of color! i've had rattling coming from the interior before, and it turns out the motor mounts had to be replaced. covered by warranty. afterwards, it was as quiet and smooth as new. btw, the rattling for me only occurred between 750-1200rpms... around the idling rpms. hope that helps narrow down your problem.

I rememebr the first few months with the 8. You looking forward to going to work, cuz you get to drive the 8. Then you look forward to getting off, cuz you get to drive the 8. You offer to run up to the store for ANYBODY, cuz you get to drive the 8. I even thought about a paper route.....and you know why???

nope.
Throwout bearing makes noise when you press the clutch. When your foot is off the clutch the noise comes from the input shaft. All RX8's have input shaft noise.
