Just recently purchased a 2005 RX-8 Shinka. 40,xxx miles, 6 spd. Have plans for an exhaust (racing beat race exhaust? any other suggestions?) and air intake. Am also a Spec Miata racer with SCCA if theres any of you on here that race them!

Anyway, this is my first rotary, so I'm learning. I have a question about my oil level light. I checked the oil, and it seems to be a little high on the dipstick. Would a high level cause the light to come on as well as low level? Or is it possible that I have a bad sensor like on the 04 cars?

Just let me know,
Adam

Without checking the CEL Error code, you don't really know what's wrong. Especially if you just bought the car.

Overflowing the oil can cause serious problems.

Welcome to the forums. Use the search function and crack open a cold one.

Ps: Post pictures, it'll help calm my addiction.

Congrats. Let's see some pics. And yes, I believe an excessively high oil level will cause a cel. Correct me if I'm wrong.

some of the old pans caused the oil light to come on when you drove like a mad an around a corner.

Reset the ECU and see if it comes back.

Thanks! I like the black cherry color. It's hard to keep clean with the weather we've been having down here though.
