New guy, new to me car...stupid question

OK, so after reading in this forum for over a month, I finally bought one....2005 RX8 with 40k on it....and I love it. Best drive I have ever had.....can't really say enough.

So, here comes the stupid question....I bought this car from a Ford Dealer that he took on trade...states that Mazda just replaced the motor and gave me a 100K warranty on the new one....still waiting on confirmation from the Mazda dealership.

Also, when they replace the motor, do they also replace the coils and plugs at the same time? If not, I was going to replace them, seems a safe investment on a 40k car....

thoughts/opinions?

Who gave you the warranty?
Mazda will only warranty the engine core for 8 years from the original purchase date Or the first 100k on the car (IF you have proper maintenance done, with records). Once you pass 100k on the car the warranty is over.

They do not change anything, everything is swapped on to the new motor core. Unless someone requested it, and paid for it to be done.

Unless you can get confirmation that they were changed, change em yourself. Go with BHR coils while you're at it

Welcome!

You just bought the car with a new (refurbished) engine and you are asking if they replaced the coils and plugs at the same time? Is there anything wrong with the coils and plugs? If there is nothing wrong with them, then you don't have to replace it, plus, it should be under warranty from the dealer you bought it from if there is something wrong with it. If you wanted to changed it for yourself, then be it. Good luck.
