New Battery or something else?

hey all, I'm a relatively new 8 owner so bear with me.

My eight's been having a hard time starting up while warm (and even cold now that the temperature is dropping)

Say I fill up at the gas station, it takes forever to turn over. I was wondering if this was a battery, starter, or possible flooding issue.

Here's a video of exactly what's happening. Thanks in advance.

(edit)
Car Info:
2004 Automatic, 57k miles, all stock, just had it in the shop last month to replace the fuel pump.

(EDIT 01.15.12)
ok, so I changed out the spark plugs, coils and dropped an optima redtop in there (hooray christmas bonus).
It helped a lot!! I'm pretty sure I've got the old starter, so once I make sure it's the old one I'll order the new one.

Thanks for all your help, these forums are a lifesaver.

When was the last time you changed the plugs and coils?

Also if you have a multi meter you can check the battery voltage, that would help to know if it is any good or not. I think autozone/checkers/advance auto also test the battery and alternator for free.

Nice job posting the video... That kind of thing helps so much when offering troubleshooting help.

Your battery sounds just fine. But tonik makes a great point, you should check to see if you have the updated starter.

Dont need to get the starter from mazda

U can get the faster starter as long as u buy one thats for 2007+ rx8. I bought one from beck and arlney, cost like 240 comes with long warranty. Havent have the time to install it yet but the starter comes with papers about various of test they did on it. Not bad. Keep in mind tho some company like bosch will sell the old slow starter to u no matter which year u pick. So make sure its a 2.0kw starter. Not 1.4kw.

Thanks for the heads up, would it be a bad idea to grab one out of newer model eight from a junkyard?
