wow, that' pretty good.

I still have payments on the car, but I hope to get a deal like yours when my car gets a little older and after I finish with the monthly payments.

I can recomemend a couple good body shops that are local.

But just looking at the pic, your gonna be in the $5000+ repair bill area.

Indeed, that car was in good shape.

Once again, sorry to hear about your ordeal. Hope you'll be able to get good money if you decide to sell/part it out.

After reading that you were there when it happened, I looked at the picture again, and thought: "Damn, you were lucky not to get hurt." As stated above, that's what I would do.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted. Going to try and sell it to somewhere like copart.com. Hopefully get a $1000 for it. If anyone can recommend any other cash for car yards in AZ I would appreciate it. Guess I'll get a bicycle and just cycle to work and back.

I do hope you have luck finding the woman. Nevertheless, I don't know if you would have the time, tools, and energy to part the car; but I'm sure what RIWWP and 9krpmrx8 have recommended will yield you more than $1,000 to part it. There are other owners who will be interested of parts considering that the most damage is on the rear.

why would you liability only when you own a car that is not a complete piece of ****? that is just silly...

on the plus side, that truck probably has some nice red paint on it somewhere, I hope you are on the look out for one.

Squee111,
I am in Tucson, and will be driving to Queen Creek on my way back to San Diego.
If you open to it, I'd like to swing by and take a look at your 8.

I would also like to meet the guys at BHR if possible. Where are they located?

Exactly.

OP: you should certainly get more than $1,000! Good grief, the engine is running, and everything else seems in good condition.

But I understand if you don't have the space to do this. Parting a car would involve a significant mess, and you may not be allowed to do that where you live

If I were in your position I might try and post flyers around advertising a reward for information leading directly to identification of the owner of the car. They were in your parking lot so they must know somebody there. Maybe you'll get lucky and a few hundred dollars reward will be worth more to somebody than their loyalty to a friend. Couldn't hurt since you're already in the hole financially.

You're giving up way too easily.

Since the person was in your apartment complex's parking lot, chances are they are either a resident, or a frequent visitor. Just keep your eyes open for that exact truck. When you see it, and you will, call the cops with the full plate number, and tell your insurance company the full plate number.

Then your insurance company will contact that vehicle's insurance company, if there is one, and get you money for the repairs.

Also, if you have another parking complex next door to yours, go search their lot for this vehicle. Chances are there's a reason why that person came into your parking lot like a madman.

This is part of the reason why I keep a camera in my car ready to go all the time. Partial plates suck, but a good police department can work with it. Your police department doesn't sound all that eager to help you, for whatever reason.

BC.
