Exclamation Navigation Upgrade

Does anyone know if this navigation upgrade, for all those who were early to purchase their 8's and have the old software for running the navigation, is covered under warrenty?

I just called my dealer and told them that my navigation was busted and told then what the screen read about "please insert upgrade disc" and they still had no idea. So i kinda want to call them back and tell them all they need is the new program dvd to fix it. but i dont want to seem shady or anything, but if it is covered under warrenty then i can call them back and have nothign to worry about.

IS IT COVERED????

Mazda is aware that people are deleting their navi systems in order to get upgrades. I'm not sure what will happen if they decide to investigate and can show that the system didn't actually malfunction... or if that is even possible.

If they weren't being such ****** about taking care of the people who purchased the NAV with the older version of the software we wouldn't have to be so sneaky... *sigh*

I agree, I don't see any reason why the first build 2004 cars should not be upgraded to the version the later 2004 models have.

Thumbs down

Agree completely that this should be a "standard" upgrade. The fact that it isn't should be one of our "issues" with Mazda NA. They've screwed those of us who bought the 2004 model early. Come on Mazda! Why not show those of us who ponied up early for the epensive stuff some love?

The upgrade should be done with a smile, and be complimentary or for a modest (<$20) fee -- particularly in that the upgrade improves the safety of the NAV by simplifying data input and in giving more detail in guiding the driver to numbered highways.

See the discussion of the update here.
