My sun visor melted off..
I got into my car today, and I was just sitting there waiting for a minute. I put down the visor, then put it back up... it wouldn't stay up. It kept on falling down. I looked at it and it was seemingly cracked open. I looked more and there was gooey stuff inside... It was all melted plastic. Now, it was probably 110 or higher in that car (who loves Florida?) but even that shouldn't be enough to melt plastic. All the other plastic in the car was fine. I think it would have to be a short in the wires in the visor.
I called the mazda dealership and he said he'd never heard of that. Told me to completely take it off so it wouldn't distract my driving. I have an appointment tomorrow to get it looked at.
Has this happened to anyone else or is this just an anomaly?

Well guys, I thought the fun was over. When I went to drive to a gig earlier, when I turned the ignition nothing happened. I did it again, and it turned on. But now the center console (stereo/climate control), center display, and interior lights all shorted out too. Not cool. It's so boring driving around without music. I bet I'll be at the dealership for a longggg time tomorrow.

I also am in Florida and while it didn't melt, I have had the drivers side visor replaced. Came out of work one day and went to flip it up(carefully as always) as it holds my windshield shade and it pretty much just split apart and wouldn't go back together. I looked at what basically allows it to turn and it absolutely is a poor design. At least it was under warranty.

Yeah it definitely wasn't the temperature, it was something electrical.
I think I even caused the short in the rest of the system when I took the visor off. But the service guy was like "It fell off, right?" and giving me that "If you don't say yes you're an idiot" look. Haha. He hooked me up. Got everything fixed for no charge, and I was out in an hour and a half. He would have given me a free rental car if I was 21. Still though great service.
