my real "new owner thread "

hey everybody, my names Johnny, 21 years young, from the bay area of california, and heres my story of how I just got my 8.

its a 2006, 6speed manual, shinka edition, in white. I drove from San Jose, California. to the state capitol " a 2hour drive", to pick her up. Unfortunately however, it is a salvaged title, or should I say... total loss/rebuilt title according to carfax."

seems like the 1st owner, after a years worth of driving, had an accident with a stationary object. Later was picked up at an auction by the previous owner, and then about 6months later, Shes now my hands he stated that the only thing taht was wrong, was the front bumper. which was a little torn up, and the bottom of the radiator was dented in. According to carfax though, the frame had no problems, nor did it have any problems in regards to fire/ buyback lemon. The airbags weren't even deployed.

I was abit hesitant about dedicating two hours worth of driving " not to mention the trip back" but... for some reason, I was compelled to go. picked up my compression tester, called up a few buddies from sacramento, " the family wanted to come along too aka, mom, dad, grandma " And we all meet the guy up. Imagine his surprise when a mob of people was there to check out 1 car

anywho.. the car was beautiful! scoring on average of 107psi on my compression gauge both front and back, no smoking at all, and fired right up with no drama at all from a hot start. The car drove staright, pulled hard, and was just so clean Although the rims the guy had on, aren't my cup of tea, I jsut couldn't resist.... I threw down my offer of $10,800 " he was asking $12,000 originally" and luckily he accepted " after a fwe mins of haggling of course ". And here I am now.

now onto me
I had a 91 coupe, a 2nd gen rx-7 as my first car, saved up for aslong as I could remember to buy it... attempted to rebuild the motor after about 2months into teh car, and lets just say... I learned one way how NOT to rebuild a motor lol. But what do you expect from a $1,000 car right? A few months later, I helped a friend rebuild his 13b during my 2nd freshmen year in college which was a success " Took me awhile to get into gear, don't laugh "

After awhile, I was forced to give up my FC. It was sitting there for sooo long as a roller.. and my parents needed some cash for a new fridge, so I decided to part her out. I was devastated, but if felt right...

I went bonkers from losing her..and admist the insanity, my parents bought me a 1993 acura Integra. Wasn't a bad car really, but I eventually sold her " with my parents permission of course" and bought a motorcycle, a 99 cbr f4. and shared a 96 toyota 4runnner with my parents as a daily driver up to this day, but now that I'm a new and proud owner of an rx-8. I'll be giving the 4runner back lol.

No plans on modding this 8 though, I'll more then likely swap the rims out, and get rid of the blue bulb the previous owner installed into the headlights " don't want any LEOs hassling me for it lol " And just keep up with maintaince. I'll be swapping out the tranny fluid to a synthtic blend, flush the cooling system, and swapping out the oil and oil filter.

I'll post More pictures tomorrow after I detail the car over

so this was all that was left of my first love, my 2nd gen rx-7

this is a quick sneak peek of the 8 i just picked up, more to come tomorrow

very nice... ms bumper and it looks like eyelids too. how many miles does it have? so long as the sub frame/unibody crap is fine it sounds like you got a really good deal.

haha thanks everybody, I can honestly say it feels great to be back

so as promised here are some daylight pictures, not my usual work. no post processing, and I'm using the kit lens of my canon xsi. But I like em

I wanted to take a picture of how unaligned the bumper was for reference, but I think it came out pretty cool.

quick shot of the interior

I couldn't seeem to get the color to come out, but its alot more vivid though. those blue bulbs, gotta go before I get a fix it ticket

and the ugly " imho" rims

on a side note though,

what are the oem color on the headlights, that are supposed to be in place of those blue ones anyways?

and yes, that hole in the front bumper is nasty I know.

And I don't know about those eye lids, I've gotten alot of compliments on em, but I'm just meh. what do you guys think? keep em on?
