My dreams are crushed...

Hi. I've been wanting to get an RX-8 for years now and have been browsing this forum for a while. I have found a good deal on an 05 RX-8 in winning blue. I also just talked to my insurance company.... it will cost about $400/month to insure this bad boy I live in the Grater Vacouver region, have been driving for 4 years, 1 ticket and was recently in an accident that I am not at fault for. I knew I would be paying more than for my 04 Sunfire but didn't realize it'd be this much.

Well, I'm done my whining. Good day.

I am going to do some shopping around. I'm 20 years old but still $400/month is so bogus.

He can't change his insurance company in BC. It's government run over there.

I pay around $1100 per year for my car. What a difference!

Guys, in B.C., the only and best price you can get is ICBC... You can go through different brokers, but you get the same basic price.. It's kind of like a monopoly. You guys down south have a few more choices

I'm in Surrey, Matt! I pay about $5K a year for insurance, but its worth it to me!

The car's awesome.

Yeah, I'm 22, with one at-fault accident, only at a 20% surplus...

I pay the same for this as I did my G-6 sedan (previous car).

It's just the ICBC **** rape plan.

I can't afford to pay 1/4 of the price of the car for 1 year of insurance.

Keep in mind, I've got a pretty decent paying job, and my RX-8 brand new was $51,000 :P

So, yeah, I pay 1/10 the invoice value every year on insurance.

Retarded.

That's to much
I pay a little over 500/6mo. full coverage with all the goodies
But I am 29 with a clean sheet.

The ticket and the accident may hold you back no matter where you look for Ins.

Nonetheless, good luck

I just got a quote for 600/yr. I guess that's what happens when you are over 50.

When I found my rx8, first thing I did was called up a insurance agent and got a quote. I was 23, had two tickets (One was speeding and one for missing a red light) I only got my US license about a year ago. Prior to that I had a international license as I am from India. First quote I got was about $3200 for 6 months, but I wanted the rx8 so bad, i tried at-least 15-20 different agents and guess what in a span of 1 week, I got a deal for $460 for 6 months with a deductible of 500. So dont give up yet. There is always someone who will give you a good deal, it is a matter of patience and some persistence. Good luck.
