Damn, I too thought it would be a flaming exhaust, not the frickin car!
Glad you got out in time and all is okay. I always carry a fire exstinguisher and have for years. It obviously wouldn't have saved the car, but it could've helped if one of you two had been on fire. Jeez, that sucks! So, if you just had an engine put in, is it safe to assume you hadn't modded that one yet? Also, it seems if you did just have it replaced, they may have screwed up the install.

There should be a signed report as to the cause from the fire department. You can use that to go to mazda about a fuel leak. You may want a lawyer too, but if the car was still under warranty and yo didn't have any mods to the engine and the fire department ruled it as a fuel leak then I would say Mazda should replace it.

I am going to see what I can do about parts for you voltures(sp) out there... Like i said before the only things salvage able are probably 2 rims and 2 tires, the borla exhaust, and the system, i went and looked at the car today and the tein springs have melted into a pile of metal along with everything else in the front of the car basically everything from the back doors to the trunk is fine.. O and for the exhaust i don't know about it because i don't know how far the flames went under the car and since its a full catback system and all 4 doors are burnt and toasted....O another thing i say the mirrors burnt off.. ..but i will see what I can do... but i don't think im going to get another mazda....from the looks of it I am goin to have a car imported over here from japan. either nissan or toyota.. but i'll let yall know whats going on..

don't let this one lemon of a car ruin you on the 8 experience. from your posts i can understand your frustration but you had to have bought it for a reason in the first place.

O yes don't get me wrong the Car has got to be one of the sexiest looking pieces of metal i have ever seen lol... you don't even need to jack off... lol but the thing that blows my mind is how Mazda can say they "re-designed the rotary" and it be a p.o.s. if i ever did get another mazda i would prefer a 7.

Wow, I hope you just make a lot of typos...
Pretty convenient for you that the car is totaled considering all of the problems you have been having.

Glad everyone got out alright.

You should probably look at other cars, perhaps a Honda/Acura.

^ aww, sorry to hear that man, well, if you really want a safe car next time, I really recommend toyota, and I'm not kidding, they are really safe, but they kinda suck, but hey! get a prius, its total opposite of the rx-8 and will give you a different experience!
