My 8 is not a DD anymore!

Well after six long years of having to DD the 8 I can say that I'm happy to be in a new car but I now feel as though I can start putting some money into the 8. I never wanted to before cause I drove it everyday and didn't want to risk anything. I was hoping to get some feedback about what to do now I'm at a little bit of a loss of what to do with the car, my main idea is to make the car as fun as possible to have while not going FI. Just thought I would share my situation and see what it gets me, thanks in advance for any comments.

What's the new daily driver? I'm thinking about getting a new daily driver and having the rx8 for the 'fun' drives.

damn..... I was really hoping to hear that you're on the original motor with 100k+ miles. About to hit 100k in like 100 miles and I'm getting all paranoid. My car is still fine though.

If you want fun with the rx8, then start with the exterior of the car. Lower the car and get some aftermarket wheels and tires. You could start with that and you will really see a difference between the look of a modified car and the look of just stock.

I don't daily drive my 8 either - which coincidently helped me get a pretty decent insurance rate. Good to have an old 4x4 beater to survive during the winter

Maybe you could start with suspension upgrades. I'm sure that would make a difference you can appreciate.

Well...it depends. You are not supposed to engage 4x4 on the street anyway - unless there is loss of traction like snow, ice, heavy rain/flooding, etc.

So I wouldn't say part-time 4x4 is useless on the street

I don't know about you guys but I was getting 250 miles a tank with the 8, mainly city driving. With the Fusion I get 450 miles to the tank, so its been awesome on my wallet, lol. My first couple mods I was thinking about was a new clutch and throw out bearing and flywheel, my clutch makes that horrible clicking noise and it bothers me, I also wanted to get one of those short throw shifters everyone talks about.

I believe a lighter flywheel will make a difference in the performance of your car.

Contact BHR. Charles Hill showed me one of their flywheels, and the machining process if just top notch. I would go with one of those.

And if you do the flywheel, then I would obviously do the clutch while in there.
