Mouse living in my 8?
Mouse living in my 8?
I replaced my cabin air filter and noticed that there was a lot of foam that was shredded into tiny bits and a lot of mouse droppings in the air filter.
I hoped that it was something the previous owner had to deal with but a week later, I checked the air filter again to make sure. Low and behold there is one mouse dropping.
I'm not sure where to begin on this one. Someone suggested rat poison but I don't want the mouse to die in my car (due to the smell). The cabin air filter is the only place I've noticed where there were any droppings at all.
I'm open to any suggestions!

I opened the hood and left a little piece of cheese right above the headlight. It was gone within an hour. Looks like the mouse is still around. I'm going to lay some traps with cheese in that same spot tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it goes =P
1. buy a catless midpipe
2. warm up your car completely
3. lay a trail of cheese leading to the exhaust pipe
4. stake out in the rx8, when you see him make his move....
5.
***melted cheese may be served on nachos!

Mice love the exterior side of the cabin air filter for a nesting space (vehicle outside covered). They took some of my firewall insulation from above the washer bottle in there last Winter.
First time it happened was last season, but presuambly as we had an unusual 6-week stretch of heavy snow cover and the next door cats couldn't patrol.
This Winter a sock full of mothballs goes in there.
Very atypical to have problems in warm weather as they've got better places to be.

Just find some repellent chemical of some sort and you'll be fine...
Oh yeah, I had acorns laying on the exterior side of my intake air filter too. With my fairly tight fitting cover and now RB intake duct hopefully they can no longer get into my intake. But again, last Winter was atypical.

There are a few threads on this subject. It happens more than you'd think. Try a search! Some are pretty funny!
