mods and mileage

i'm sure if I dig long enough i'd find the answer to this question but, I want to add simple bolt-ons such as cold air intake and a nice sounding exhaust and the question is would those simple upgrades hurt my mileage, better it slightly or no effect at all?

thanks,

technically, you're supposed to get better mileage, but you'll like the better performance you'll be getting w/the mods so you'll push your car harder making your mileage decrease

Well but then since efficiency increase, you're only using the same amount of fuel for more power so basically you don't use as much gas for the same acceleration as before.

But then again, since most mods dont' increase power and some even causes power loss, you'll get worse mileage.

you gotta have give in order to have get.

you can't gain HP w/o giving up gas mileage

I have the Racing Beat Cat Back and a Green drop in air filter. 30,000 miles with the original spark plugs. Consistant 275 miles / 20+mpg using ONLY 93 octane Ammoco gold. Your actual milage may vary. This ain't granny shifting, either so go for those mods if you want them.

Simple search using "intake" and "mileage" yielded:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...mileage+intake
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...mileage+intake
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...mileage+intake
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...mileage+intake
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...mileage+intake
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...mileage+intake

That was only from a quick glance at the titles and only through page 2. There were 6 pages worth of data.
