Minor problems advise please

I just passed 500 miles on the new car yesterday and I noticed a few problems. First when starting the car and then going to Reverse and just starting to back up within a few seconds a "clunk" noise comes from the engine. I am not using the AC and it does this everytime. Next when getting on the highway I have gotten the car up to about 6800 rpms - 7200 rpms there is a noticeable hesitation like it gets bogged down a little. Any hekp with these problems would be greatly appreciated and if I need to take it to the dealer to look at then no problem. What do you think?

the clunk noise is normal...it's been explained before, but I forget what it is. It's in the manual somewhere too, I believe. I'm sure you rad it and just forgot about it though ;9

The clunk on first start-up is likely the ABS doing a self-check. It will only happen the first time you exceed 1 or 2 mph (forwards or backwards) after you start the engine.

The hesitation is something I'm not familiar with.

Thanks for the responses. You are right on the money with the abs self check and what i am getting now is the hesitation is from the ecu retarding itself to prevent possible engine damage/knock based on other threads. Thanks for the info.

The hesitation has also been discussed as thats the RPM the secondary ports in the engine open up and a lot of people see a drop in power when this happens.

i have on different occasions felt the slight drop in power at 7K, but today, it felt really strong all the way up. the air was cold this morning, 56 deg, dont know if that had anything to do with it. ive got under 1K miles so its still green.

Last night on my way home I tested it a little in second gear at just over 6k the car almost wanted to stop revving. It sounded like a baseball card in bike spokes and then when I shift it would go away again until 6k. I got home and checked everything in the Engine compartment and the oil and everything was fine. This morning it didn't do it. wtf? Am I imagining this $hit?
