Mileage thread: New plugs after flood, 1.5mpg improvement

Yesterday i was driving home from work, i noticed that i had 1/4 tank of gas left and had done about 210 miles or so, i was totally bewildered. I pulled into my local gas station, and filled her up, hold crap, what's this? 17.65 MPG?!?!? How could that possibly be?

I've had the car since june of 05 and have never, EVER, EVER, gotten above 16.5 mpg, usually right around 16.1-16.2, i've tried to baby it, i've run the crap out of it, and i've driven it normall, always always at 16mpg, even with more freeway then usual, 16mpg.

This past tank was my first complete tank since my car flooded and i got the hotter/newer plugs installed. Well, regular driving, a few trips to 9k and so fourth and i ended up with the best mileage by far i've ever gotten... coincidence? I think not.

Flood your cars peeps, get the newer plugs, they make a difference.

I wonder how much difference the new plugs would mean for me - I'm constantly getting about 19 mpg with 60% city, 40% freeway.

I still have to get the new starter and plugs - battery was already replaced. Guess I'll see it next time the car goes in for an oil change.
