mazda speed CAI no longer made?

I went into my mazda dealership two days ago to order in a CAI for my 2009, and the parts guy looked in the book, then told me that its been discontinued....has anyone else heard of this, or does he just not know what hes doing?

this is in canada, in case that makes a difference

Or Racing Beat intake w/ duct
Or k&N drop in filter with Racing Beat duct

Etc etc etc.... Just stay away from the K&N typhoon intake

I did a search and found it here, but it says 2004-2008 only. Did they even make it for the 2009-2010? The RX I bought does have one, but it's a 2007.

My K&N Typhoon is just fine. No issues with it and the car pulls hard like it should...

I think people are worrying too much about the hot air thinggy.

I mean yea sure AEM/Mazdaspeed pulls colder air, but did it actually gain anything? it did, not much.

Did K&N lose anything? some say it does some say it doesn't who knows.

K&N's MAF sensor location might be one thing to consider. but hey if it works. I dont see why not.

nycgps: I'm pretty sure someone did back to back dyno's on here with the K&N and lost hp. It was years ago though.

either way, it's simple engineering in my mind and the K&N concept fails to accomplish what an aftermarket intake is supposed to do: deliver more cold air in an efficient manner.
Just my $.02

Could be could be. but if people has no problem with their K&N meh I dont see why not

Anyway as to OP's original question : You still can order the intake from Mazda, but its currently Out of stock. Im too lazy to call Mazda Corporate again to ask them ETA, cuz I just did that to try to get some Engine Gasket set but its NLA. pisses me off ...

if u ask me 2 weeks ago I would've sell you mine. 220 bux. Now a local guy wants it so if the deal falls apart. I let u know.

pico is that you in your sig? if so man you are jacked!

Definitely get the AEM or RB intake.

Also read in another thread the Mazda has discontinued the Mazdaspeed kit so maybe they are just phasing everything out. Makes sense as well if next year is it for RX8.

I agree that the K&N Typhoon is not a CAI, and further it is very loud, but comparing a dyno run to on-highway is not really fair. On-highway it will be fed "cold" ambient air due to the vehicle's motion. Now, sitting in traffic is certainly a concern.

Anyway, as Jedi cites get a similar-to AEM CAI [if they make one for the Series II].

Correct. They did, it was the first version of the intake.

I've no idea about the revised 2nd version(which I have) but as my car runs/idles great I have no issues with it. It doesn't bother me that it's a "hot" air intake and if I'm losing .005 HP at speed with it I can live with that. It came with the car and after getting used to the sound I actually really enjoy it. But I doubt this version is hurting the car, but if I'm wrong then I'm wrong. No big deal.
