Will the trunk fit anything larger than airport carryon luggage?

Not saying that I wouldnt switch luggage behavior to get this car

but, you know,

 

I just tried, and was able to fit a smaller suitcase (about three inches wider and taller than a large carry-on), a large carry-on (standing up in the front of the trunk), and there would be room for a garment bag on top and assorted smaller items on both sides of the trunk. I would say you could pack for a week-long trip for 3 people (summer clothes!) if you had the right luggage.

 

I know I should know this, but do the back seats drop down to enable anything bigger to be put in the back?

 

I don't think they do. I saw some schematics which showed some cross bracing, for rigidity I guess.

 

They don't; there is only a small pass through from trunk to pax compartment so you could put skis or similar skinny objects. I'm wondering, with a skilled customizing shop, if you could turn the seats into folding seats without trashing them. any ideas on this?
