A Loud Bang and (big problem)

Hi guys.

Started up my well maintained 2006 MT, and the engine started with a load bang- and I mean a pop that made you think you hit something- and the car would not start. The instrument panel glowed intermittently and the tach needle swayed from zero to pinned to the max and back again like it was possessed.

Opened the hood, and saw nothing obvious.

I'm still on warranty, but if you folks have insight, it will be appreciated.

one time (i was like 12) my mom went to start our expedition, and a LOUD gunshot came out from under the hood. Turns out the battery exploded even denting the hood, i guess thats not what happened with you though.

The Big Bang is the cosmological model of the initial conditions and subsequent development of the universe that is supported by the most comprehensive and accurate explanations from current scientific evidence and observation. As used by cosmologists, the term Big Bang generally refers to the idea that the universe has expanded from a primordial hot and dense initial condition at some finite time in the past, and continues to expand to this day.

....

Or check your battery and bring it to the dealer.

Sounds like the battery popped. Did you take the battery cover off. If the battery did blow up it was because of a major short in the electrical system. Positive cable grounding. Possibly the main starter wire or one related.

1. So that the cute girls feel better about themselves when they pig out.
2. So that they feel superior when the cute girl gets more attention than the fat girl.

Today I took a good look around the engine compartment. Pulled off the battery cover and everything looked normal. No signs of leaks, or burn marks of any kind from arcing, etc.

Will have to wait until Monday to tend to this.

Sorry for the late follow up, but it was the battery exploding that made the noise and the electrics go whacko.

Fortunately the casing was not penetrated so no engine bay damage. Thought I had seen it all with the common problems on this car, but this was a new one.

Glad I bought a leftover 2006- still on the 48K warranty!
