I joined here as soon as the RX8 hit the streets, always lusting after them but never getting around to owning one. I kept getting distracted buying other sports cars over the years.

The one thing that has been constant for the last 13 years is the FC I have in my garage and my love for rotary cars. So that FC has always filled my rotary desire.

It came time to put to pasture our 2001 BMW 330i, it has served us very well these last 4 years and 60K miles but it was getting long in the tooth. While it was good for wifey running around town duties, we go to the Dragon every fall to meet some car friends and hoon around the mountains together. The 330 was just not up to the task and was in sore need of a suspension upgrade.

So we decided to trade it in, I looked at one RX8 that was suprcharged, but it had a lot of little issues, too many for a car my wife would drive. I was not confident in it.

Then I stumbled upon this gem, a 2009 R3 with 16K miles on it. It was on a Mercedes Dealership lot and they were selling it at wholesale price. It will not get the heavy use the 330 got because I also have an FJ Cruiser and the wife will drive that a lot, so the 8 gets to just be used for fun.

I cannot wait to get this car up on the Dragon this fall.

So now we are a 2 Rotary family, the wife and I went for a cruise today to a park and took some pictures of the cars together.

BTW- the FC has an FD engine in it.

Now warrantied until 2017 or 76K miles, whichever happens first. Bumper to bumper.

Already do, Autocroseed it last weekend, changed the alignment ordered a swaybar and bought some 17x9" rims with sticky tires. Ready for the next event.

Plus it is heading to the Tail of the Dragon in a few weeks.
