Local Mazda dealer screwing me over?

3 months ago my 04 gt went in for a compression test , three days later they called and said it failed and i need 11 oil change receipts in order to get a new engine that was covered under warranty after a long fight about these receipts they finally said ok so a MONTH later my car was finally ready. About two weeks prior to putting the car in I put new rear struts, plugs, coils, plug wires on and the car had a cel for a rear oxygen sensor gone, why i tell all this information is because after the swap I picked the car up to be informed that I have a bad air injection pump, my ac wasn't working( was before i dropped it off) my right rear strut was leaking ( which wasn't before) and on top of that they charged me $250 for an engine analysis, which i read that if the diagnostic is for something covered under warranty I would not need to pay the $250 so
after dealing with this ***** of a
service advisor I tool the car not worrying about the little issues because hey i just got a new engine, the next day I had off i took it for a cruise and I realized that around 5500-6000rpm it was bucking and seemed like the rev limiter was dropped down to 6krpm I thought this was very weird on the way home there was a loud bang in the car and it broke down and would not start ******* great i thought, after $100 tow truck bill to Mazda and
The next day they say whoops we didn't tighten your crank position sensor I Said okay as long as its fixed, took the car
last week back from them and
now the car has been giving me a p0301 code which is engine misfire, ******* great I said again and today I put the car into mazda they called me 3 hours later we
Need to charge you to look at this problem we do not replace the plugs and coils when we give you a new engine and as well your ac will need to be recharge which will cost 140 bucks, I told them do not do the ac because my friend has a garage where they do specifically that, the ***** service advisors said good enough we will call you when its ready 4 hours later i receive a call you have two bad coils $300 to get fixed and we recharged your ac so that's 140 and an additional 250 for the engine analysis. I'm am absolutely shocked and outraged can someone give me tips on how to go about dealing with this? They pierced my strut while putting the car up, they unplug my ac to swap theengine, and due to the crank position sensor not being tighten it backfire on 2 of my coils and now I'm inthis messpaying out of my behind to mazda

Sounds a little fishy. I'd call the regional Mazda service rep and complain. Seems like they were trying to bleed money out of you.

Yes, they are screwing you.

1: You are correct, the diagnosis fee that determined that the engine needed to be replaced is much higher than it should be (usually around $80 USD)

2: that same diagnosis fee is covered under the warranty that replaced the engine

3: If you tell them not to perform a service (AC charge), and they do it anyway, you should not be charged for it. In the US, charging for a service that you were told not to do is actually illegal. I do not know Canadian laws, but I suspect it is the same.

4: $300 for the coils is typical dealer price, which is highway robbery anyway.

5: $250 for the 2nd engine analysis is again, absurdly high.

Canada has a consumer protection organization? I remember seeing about another dealer that was jacking with people buying cars, sold a 3 to someone for $50k or something retarded, and they got involved and got it corrected. Look up who that would be and start filing complaints.

Wait. "We do not change plugs and coils when we give you a new engine"

That right there is enough bullshit to last all year.

Here's what you do:

Gather up your receipts for the things that you had purchased prior to having the original engine replaced in the car (struts, ignition coils, etc), then head over to the dealer with them in hand, and show them that you had replaced all these parts that they say are bad, and that if they damaged parts on your car, they have to replace them out of their own shop's pocket, because everything they are saying was BRAND NEW on your car when you brought it into their service bay.

Tell them that if they attempt to charge you for any of this, they aren't going to get a penny, and then they are going to have to deal with whatever group you send their way (lawyer, BBB, etc).

BC.

While I agree with you that the dealer is screwing him over Cyber, plenty of cases have shown that most dealer re-use your coils and plugs during an engine change, or bill you for them if they don't, so I disagree with that particular point.

to be honestly, i don't think most mazda dealers are familiar with rotary engine especially in canada. every visit, different personnel, different answer.
they, however, have one thing in common,
if they can't fix it, "it's normal".
they had mine for 2 full days only to hear that.
now they are keep calling & emailing me for not coming back.

if I told my dealer not to touch my AC and they did it ANYWAY, I will not pay a cent, period.

As for coils, 300 bux for 2 coils? not even 4 ? Hmm. I think they should just ask you for your ATM card and your pin code.

Your dealership is trying to screw you, big time.

I mean I understand dealership is there to make a living and I believe there are honest dealerships out there BUT this dealership you have been to (the one that's trying to rob you) should really go to hell.

Sorry, but don't get suckered into the stealership's way of doing business. Like what others said, call the Mazda Headquarters and complain about your issues with that stealership. Good luck and i'll hope you'll win.

Many jurisdictions in the US have laws requiring a written estimate and owner approval for any significant work. Does Newfoundland have anything like that?

ITs BS. Go to your local courthouse, find a clerk of the court. You want to file a release of vehicle. You'll have to post a bond for the value they claim but they cant have it unless they file a lawsuit and prove they provided a written signed estimate and can prove all charges within 60 days. They will giove you a form and you to that to the dealer and if necessary call the sheriff to come out and return your car to you. You'll get your money back and cost them a small fortune.
