The Little Things
The little led tail lights, especially when I was showing a buddy of mine a "secret" road with no cops. I am driving the 8, he is driving his EVO and we are going fast! At the end when we pull off he doesn't say a thing about how awesome the handling of the EVO was, just how wild those LEDs were.
I just like the fact that it is rear wheel drive so the Spoiler actually makes sense engineering wise. As opposed to these idiots who drive front wheel drive civics with rear spoilers, that actually decreases performance because it pushes the rear down and the front up!!
Yeap - I agree - this is one of those feel good threads...
What's cool is that I've been driving an 85 RX7 almost daily until last week. When I got into the my new RX8 - I started noticing all of these things right away - the things that you wish you would change (in the old car).
i was about to spend about $10k re-doing the old one - but decided to just jump into the new one and a friend is going to take care of old Roxy.
And a side note - I am sure that this has been said before - but this car is not about being the quickest or having the most horsepower - this is about a total complete balanced package and the experience that you (the driver) gets out of it.
Do you smile when you get in and out of the car? that's a good sign!
hey - does anybody have a silver with silver window tinting? I am thinking about doing that but do not want to look tacky...
happy RXing....

Has anyone noticed that the remote for the locks works from about 100 feet away. My last car you had to be within touching distance to unlock it and with the Rx8 I could barely see the car and it unlocked.

This has happened before, but never put 2 + 2 together.
One thing I have not seen posted, and it may not be a big thing to others. A manual channel tuning **** on the radio, that is easy to use. Some of the other car stereos with search and seek and mode change buttons, just to manually tune can be more dangerous than a cell phone.

Any other truly little things that haven't been mentioned elsewhere?

Still waiting for mine too but the delivery date has moved to a couple of weeks so may get it for Christmas. Woo Hoo
Did you know the speedo registers when you're reversing.
The best thing is that I can fit both kids in the back and have plenty of luggage space in the boot. Never thought I would have a sports car when the kids turned up... Zoom Zoom

I sh*t you not.
Take the remote, point the ring end at the soft part of your neck where it meets your lower jaw and press.
I suspect your head becomes a little microwave antenna, but it is not likely to fry your brain. I think. I'm pretty sure my brain is still with me and I've been doing this with alarm remotes for years.
I hope my brain isn't glowing, anyway.
Here's one I haven't seen yet; I got it from a Toronto Star review. "RX-8 is lithe and narrow, with a pointy-faced friendliness contrary to the overtly macho styling cues you'll find in the rest of the class. Look at it from the front and it even looks like it has cycle fenders, for heaven's sake."
Between the cycle fenders and the shotgun brake handle, I'm starting to feel like Tex Cobb who played the biker from hell in Raising Arizona. All I need are the bronzed baby shoes hanging from the mirror and I'm there. And if you've never seen this movie, you need to. It is probably my single all-time favorite movie.

Happiness is a Green 8
I have had my 8 for 68 days and I still smile every time I get in AND every time I get out! Yes, I am a little concerned about the mileage, but the car is so fine -
- the layout of the controls (including the sound system on the steering wheel)
- the foot rest
- how FAAAASSSSTTTT the windows go up and down (but watch out)
- how really well the car corners
- the courtesy lights come on at the right times
- the little holes in the visors block the light but still let you see through if you have to (clever)
That's a start. More later maybe... :D

for the first time since i picked up my car i checked my tire pressure since the light came on (15 degrees outside)...most of them were 21psi! so i pumped them all up to 36psi (i read that somewhere) and damn what a difference it made! also, this being my first RWD car, i decided to have some fun tonight and learn how to drift...i went to a wide open parking lot with plenty of lights (and no cops) and did a little practicing...i couldn't believe how easy it was and how in control i felt the whole time...whenever i felt like i was out of control, i'd let go of the throttle and i'd be back in control again, almost instantaneous...
not that this is a little thing about only the RX-8 but this is the first car that i've been able to slide without using the handbrake...

I just tested out the manual and automatic yesterday and I noticed one thing that amazed me with the manual.
I've only driven a manual car 3 or 4 times before and when I learned with my uncle's integra, whenever I stalled it it made a horrible noise and jerked to a stop. However when I accidentally stalled it yesterday, the RX-8 sounded like I just simply turned off the ignition and didn't jerk at all. It was SO smooth. And I loved how on the automatic, the tiptronic function REALLY holds gears and doesn't upshift until the redline unlike some other "tiptronic" cars.

Here are my "little things," (actually big ones)
1. I love the fact that my whole family can ride with me on my RX-8 adventures! My 4 month old went on our test drive with us. Wife sat in front with me until she drove, salesperson and 4 mo old in back. He has to have the world record for youngest test rider in an RX-8! He napped the whole time, even through the 9000 rpm beep! I tried some other sports cars, only in the 8 can you put 2 kids (or adults for that matter) in the back everyday.
2. My 4 year old son loves the Hot Wheels storage bin between the two back seats. That IS what it's for, right? It's just the right height for his little cars.
3. I still haven't seen another one anywhere, except my own.

The cruise control
I just read through the whole thread and can't believe that only one poster hinted at what I think is an incredible marvel - the cruise control. When you hit the Set button, it's set. I mean, at that speed exactly. There is no hunting for the right throttle setting, there is no one-or-two mph dropping from where you set it, it's set, dead-on and immediately. Try this some time: Set your speed to normal freeway cruising. Now click the Coast button. You will get exactly a 1 mph drop in speed. No wobble, no hunting, no drifting, it's just set. I also like the Cancel button that allows you to temporarily release the setting without tapping the brakes. Also, the fact that your cruise is still on waiting for you to click Resume after you restart your car.

Perhaps you haven't found this, but the 1 MPH at a time speed changes will also work in accelleration by tapping Resume. You will soon be wondering if it would be possible for a "quick double press" to activate 5 MPH at a time changes. Any more votes for a +/- 5 MPH CC changes mod on top of the default +/-1 MPH?

Add ons: Britax Roundabout infant seat, Britax Star Riser Comfy booster seat, OU Sooners license plate frame.
Can't say I've seen any of these add-ons to anyone else's RX-8.
Glad to hear your test drive was successful, and welcome to the club.
