The Little Things
#1552
The car's performance is better than many newer cars such as the Honda Civic although it is already 15 years old.
The only downside is the FC is bad. If not for the FC, i think you will see plenty of RXs on the road.
And the little things I like about this 8, the looks of it is still VERY COOL, HANDSOME and SMART compared to the many new cars on the road including the latest Honda Civic 1.5 turbo!
So now i am wondering if anyone here still have it by your side?? Too bad I am a decades late in joining this forum... hope everyone here are still having this car in your garage??

Smoking turbo yay
Mazda has always been known to make some pretty cars. See the newest 2019 Mazda 3 for example.
I personally don't mind the Civic, though. Owned an Accord Coupe before the 8, and I could see myself driving an Si Coupe, but at the same time...
- Civics are very common cars. I am actually happy that there aren't many 8s around. It's all more special when you see one.
- Civics feel a bit immature compared to the 8 stock vs. stock. The 8 is sporty, yet still mature at the same time. Mazda in general is pretty good at the sporty and classy aesthetics, especially with the newer generation of cars.
- And let's not get started with the Type R. Don't care how fast it is, but it looks absolutely ridiculous and is basically a boy racer's wet dream. Yeah, I know all the pieces are there for a functional reason, but that still doesn't excuse the design.
- Not a fan of the small turbo engine trend. I would have preferred a revvy NA VTEC engine stuffed inside the Si, not just the same engine used in normal Civics, just with more boost. Doesn't help that the 1.5T engine is having some oil dilution issues right now.

But still I love th RX8 more. Just because it is such a delicate car, you just need to care more for it. It gives me the satisfaction when you check its oil level, when you fill premix when topping up gas, when you tried to service it's everything instead of sending it to the workshops... Recently, I have just completed a full body paint work on it as its original red paint is washing out. And this is my first time doing spray painting! But the results is awesome!I just love the new Mazda 41V candy soul red on the RX8.
There's still a lot to do on my to do list. Next I will be programming an Orange PI SBC to provide navigation and infotainment to the car during my free time. Hope to see more people coming back for the 8. It is just a pity to let it fade into history... just so sad at the thought of it.

1. The RX8Club forum is not only alive and well, but a virtual treasure chest of info...SEARCH is your friend!
2. Premix?! Yes! Idemitsu naturally.
3. How to spend my first $100...
The thing I think I love the most? My wife LOVED the RX-8 for its smooth power delivery and razor-sharp handling back when we had our first one...and she has missed it since then! Back to Deal's Gap for us next month I think!

I had an '04 Titanium GT 6MT, sold it a couple years later for no good reason, then remembered how much fun and performance-driven the car was So...just bought an '08 Stormy Blue Mica GT 6MT with 44K on the odometer (fresh from a service for new coils, wires, plugs, battery, compression test). Ah yes, the memories are still there; love the shifting, the handling, the looks, the four-seat capability, the reviness, and all the goodness that made it a $33K sports car in its day! Things I've learned since then:
