Angry Ever been subject to an envy crime?

Ever been subject to an envy/hate crime for your car before? This just happened about 3 hours back...

I'm heading to the mall to pick up a movie at our local fye. It's on the very corner of the mall. So I pull into the lot, park about 4 spots out from the closest car, and run in to grab the movie. Knowing it wouldn't even be 5 minutes at MOST, i leave my sunroof and windows open. I figure i'm so far out and in the open that there'e no way anyone would pull something there. Anyone know where this is goin yet?

I come back out, and open my door to find that my seat is CAKED with stones. Someone apparently threw FINE/COARSE STONES in my car, through the sunroof. We're talkin stones so fine that it's just a hair larger then sand. By the look of it, it seemed like about a handful. Mind you, this was the NEXT day after I spent almost 3 hours fully detailing my car for the first time.

We're talkin stones in the leather seat crevices, ALL over the console, in the shifter leather gap, ON THE DISPLAY LCD (the little cracks), in the instrument panel, all over the floor and part of the back seats. OH YEA, and the worst place, FINE STONES ALL OVER THE SUNROOF RAILS/TRACKS. I couldn't even close the sunroof because it sounded like someone stepping on glass ornaments.

I seriously was about to have a mental breakdown. I seriously don't think i've ever been so mad in my life. I franticly rush to the nearest wash to vacuum it out, and of course their vacuum got the bigger stones out, but I couldn't even touch the sunroof rails, nor any of the console crevices or otherwise small places. So i at least get it good enough to get home. Get home and get out the fine-nosed shop vac and do my best to clean it out. Try and sweep then finger-sweep the sunroof rails (that it slides on) and after I get everything I can apparently see, I try to close it for the first time. CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH. A glorious sound to hear out of the sunroof of yur brand new $30K sports car. I believe my face my have distorted into one of the ugliest cringes ever seen. Eventually got it to the point where I hear very little, if no foreign sounds.

All told, it took me probably short of about 2 hours and completely sweep, chip and dig out every stone I could get to. There's still a couple very minute ones in hard to reach places and extremely small cracks, but I'd say that the incident is almost impossiable to notice now. I'm still extensively furious, but am trying to at least look on the bright side...they didn't throw them at the paint or do anything exteriorly.

Anyone ever had something similar? How did you handle it? I can't believe some people would have SOOO little respect for other people's stuff. All I keep thinking is...karma's gonna be a b#$%^ for them.

One time, this girl was so envious of the relationship I had with her best freind that she had sex with me. My face distorted when that happened, somthing like this

I didn't use a vacuum, but I did get rid of her pretty quick afterwards. She was pretty bitchy after, almost like someone put sand in her underpants. Very similar situation, I feel your pain.

What some people will do out of jealousy is sickening.

When will people learn that if you park your car far away from other cars or take up two spots you're just making your car stand out and makes it a target. You're saying to others that you think your car is better than theirs and asking for someone to mess with it.

You made the "never been laid before face?" I mean we all have, but I wouldn't have taken a picture.

sorry to hear that man, yeah people are just jealous of our cars.....

I had a guy wave me down at a light, and tell me to slow down because i'm endangering his life haha, its a 25 MPH zone in a speed trap where a cop is always there... so i doubt I'm going to be stupid and get pulled over, and then he starts threating me, and really losing his cool for no apparent reason, and I finally ended his road rage with "You're just jealous of my car!" and he didn't say a thing and I drove away...

some people are just retarded...

Well yes and no...just a choice you have to make.

You can park yur car out in attempts to keep it looking nice BUT drawing more attention, or you can park it in the midst of all the others...leaving you subject to lovely door dings when all 7 kids hop out of a 1983 fullsize conversion van.

Guess that with my cobra, I've always had better luck parking out...and still no dings of course...no stones either

I work for a police department and auto burglaries are common for us. We empathize with the victims and take a report. Then we talk about how stupid they are for leaving their window down, moonroof open or doors unlocked. You're asking for it, with an open invite, when you do stuff like that.

I have about a two inch key mark in the passenger side of my door. I'm pretty pissed about it and it probably happenned at school but its not incredibly huge so I just have to buy some touch up paint and fix it. But still...I don't even know what I'd do if I saw someone doing something to my car. Admiring is one thing. Destruction is another. (To state the retardedly obvious)

I came out of the house one fine morning last year to find my car smeared with dog sh*t. There was no lasting damage, but it pissed me off pretty bad. I have a garage so I've never parked it out over night since.

i get the point that the general concensious is that I shouldn't have parked there and left the car opened up , BUT I think that more of my frusterating is simply that of other's negligence to appriciate the money/work that people pay to have nice cars and such...

I'd imagine they were either driving a rusted-over 70's pickup or maybe a $3K special ricer-mobile. At any rate, the point being is that i'm sure at least 1/2 of those people COULD attempt to finance a car like such...so how can they do @#$% like that and think "yea well their rich, they can afford it".

havent had any expereinces yet in that department, but I do have a ding on my drivers side door right under my mirror from some asshat that is careless.... its only noticable if you are in a certian position and the light is hitting it so no big deal.

on my right rear fender though is where the trouble is... i a ding/bigass dent there at the top of the fender.... i dont know how it got there but it looks as if someone took a full swing at a golf ball and hit my car with the golf ball full on. I have to see about some paintless dent repair on it becauase its horribly noticeable.

i've had many bastards park next to me, swing their door open and dent my door, fender, rear door and now my driver side door, i've got them all out except the one on my driver side door (just found it recently), some people are just inconciderate, i swear i'm going to get my old 92 4runner and park next to these jerks and aggressively open my door several times on their car until their paint cracks and makes a huge dent.

I have found the best defense is a good offense. Drive like someone just shat in your car, and you will never have anyone screw with you.

Oh come on man. Tell me you dont beleve in all that "Karma" stuff?. Say I hope you learned a lesson from all this. Your 8 is the most important thing in your life and you should have never left her so variable out in the open like that. On the other hand I hope you found a way to get all them rocks / stones out of your baby

this argument only works if all parking lot patrons have mal intent and intend to vandalize. Then, of course the car sticks out more. But not everyone intends to vandalize so when you park farther away, i think you do preserve the car most of the time. MOst grocery store patrons are just intersted in coming and going, not getting pissed that someone is parked further away.

I always park a bit further out, and have no dings after 2 years of driving. (knock on wood).

However, I agree with you that anytime you park in a 'bratty' tone (2 spots, super super ridiculously far away) than its annoying and subjects you more to pissing someone off,.

I believe yur mistaking modern mini-vans. I'm talkin CONVERSION (AKA full size) vans. Google it, you'll see what I mean. I'm sure you know um...the full size vans that have the 2 door that swing open instead of a minivan sliding door. And their rather LARGE doors too. Usually familys of more then 6-8 travel in them.

I believe that if you look close enough on the door sticker, it reads "gauranteed to cause door dings - use with carelessness"

Anytime you take up two spots you deserve retaliation. It's just thoroughly obnoxious. Parking farther away will only irritate the ******** who are up to no good. If they are up to no good in the first place, you're f8cked. Unless there's a nicer car w/in range. With the low number of 8's (compared to Z, Vette, Pony, etc), the 8 becomes a more likely target even if there is a more expensive one around. I want to add an electrocution mod to the alarm system. Touch it and

Pretty simple really...it was almost 100 out. Couple that with a weak A/C on top of a black interior...you'd imagine natural cooling would be a good idea.

However, the one flaw of this equation is obviously that it doesn't figure in the inconsiderate #$%^ factor.

At least it wasn't much of a lasting effect i guess and I just added that icon because it's one of the stupidest ones i've ever seen.
