Ever been subject to an envy crime?

i pwn therefore i am
Tough break, but I think this whole situation is pretty interesting. The title of this thread reminds me of those girls that wear those shirts that say "you're just jealous" as a preemptive response to people who harbor ill will towards them. To me it's not so much that people are jealous (or envious in the case of this thread), but more so that they just don't like you. Leaving windows down, doors unlocked, taking up two spaces, and even parking far away can be construed as an act of arrogance and people react to that.
Having said that, I personally don't think what happened was warranted at all.

Ironically, I've known many folks to drive beaters which they never lock and seldom bother to roll up windows - no problems.
I personally had an old beater Toyota pickup which I seldom removed the key from the ignition - no problems.
I assume Stavesacre21 isn't the sort of doofus to park crooked or take too parking spaces so one has to ask - what wrong is done to others by owning a nice car? Nothing - some people are just jerks. Having a clean, nice looking car makes you a target of jealous people, but the flaw is all on them - none on you.
Dunno what to think about some people. My kids don't even touch other peoples' cars (nor do they put finger prints on mine). However, a few weeks back I had to shoo away 4 middle-school kids from a church where they were throwing dirty snowballs at the windows at the back of the building. Bored, unsupervised, couldn't think of anything better to do, didn't care if they broke church windows. I couldn't decide whether to be angrier at them or their parents, but in the end I said very little and just shooed them off.
Better to roll up and lock up - you can count on crossing paths with some jerk some day. If you're lucky you'll catch them in the act.

I believe yur mistaking modern mini-vans. I'm talkin CONVERSION (AKA full size) vans. Google it, you'll see what I mean. I'm sure you know um...the full size vans that have the 2 door that swing open instead of a minivan sliding door. And their rather LARGE doors too. Usually familys of more then 6-8 travel in them.
I believe that if you look close enough on the door sticker, it reads "gauranteed to cause door dings - use with carelessness"

Seems I learn something new everyday.

Seriously, I fear those big vehicles for the occupants as much as the doors. An unruly mob piling out of a big van is likely to lean on and slide against your car. Belt-buckles against paint is a sickening sound.
Speaking out in favor of parking away from the other cars - Ever see folks stack their junk on your car while they are loading their own? That ought to be just cause to taser someone in all 50 states. I mean, seriously, if it's an adult and they don't know better already there's certainly no additional harm done.

1935 lbs. FTW!
Hate to say it but who is going to be envy/jealous of a RX8 it's a 20 something thousand dollar mazda? I like mine and it's a pretty decent car and all around good performer but it's no F360 Challenge Stradale or BMW M6, there are plenty of cars as good or better (and more expensive). I haven't even had a disgruntled middle manager type in a crappy civic give me a dirty look yet like I got in my BMW M3 all the time.

Man, if I ever saw someone stack something on my car...my first reaction would be to ask them what the **** they thought my car was? A chair? Maybe not that harsh but possibly an "Excuse me, is your car not good enough to have your sh*t stacked on it?" Secondly if an apology followed, and i saw something that said fragile or looked fragile, (SMASH) "whoops...Im SO SORRY that i accidentally dropped it trying to put it on your car!"
Okay i probably wouldn't do that or even get that mad (maybe a little). I'm more of a "Dont get mad, get even" kind of person. But everyone has to admit that would be funny to happen. Could you imagine the look on their
face?!
But yeah, maybe a taser would be fun.

Can't imagine how I'd handle it if I caught them in the act. Scary to think one could end up in jail but I'm sure the adrenaline rush would be hard to contain!! Perhaps the Judge would be sympathetic.

That's what you would expect as a Mazda owner, but people are stupid and in general they don't seem to notice the emblems...they always ask if it's something else.

i was at ucla last night, parked my evo at the meters at 3 am....came back out at 7 am and saw a load of egg over the car.
first of all my car is 1 month old, and it just got washed. most of the egg yolks went on my windshield, and if some of u know, the vent on stock evo's engine lid...that vent was a major PITA to clean i tell u, esp. for 3 hours under very hot socal sun today....
yea i was extremely angry to say the least. i guess i will never take my evo to school anymore. ******* haters should all die.

The 8 hasn't had enough production years for "people" to know what it is offhand. It looks sporty & that's all stupid people need to see. If everyone knew the cost of an 8, the car would not draw so many head turns, double takes, and general comments. When was the last time you saw someone double take a mustang? Add to that the amount of times (4 in the 2 months I've had my8) you hear "what did that set you back? 35-40k?" and you can see that "people" don't have a f8ckin clue.
Overall, I gotta agree w/ the statement(s) that some MF's out there just suck, and deserve to be taser bait.

I parked my `87 Ford F150 in a not-too-bad neighborhood a couple of summers ago. I looked out a window a bit later and noticed some neighborhood kids (looked about middle school age or younger) were sitting on the hood, leaning on the doors and climbing in and out of the truck bed.
Now, I really didn't care at all in that case and didn't say anything to the kids because I'd only paid $900 for the truck and it look like hell. However, there's no excuse for bad manners. I did wish I'd had a taser rigged to almost-all-steel body of the truck and a remote for just such an occassion. After all, if their parents don't care to teach `em their parents shouldn't complain when I do.
Not really a great neighborhood. My wife found the air let out of one tire on her van on another occasion parked in that exact same place. We don't park there anymore.

In less then a month that i've owned the car, i've had someone come up and ask if this was the new viper (?) and yet another at a pump that said he's swore up and down on his life that his friends cousin has one of those with a V10. I just finished pumpin gas and left. That conversation had gotten too stupid me, especially after I was nice enough to take the time to explain the general concept of how a rotary works.

^^ lol. Shinka MSRP comes to 36k for my zipcode. I bought the base model, b/c I can't stand the spoiler/sunroof, etc. and the cost of those pckgs was not worth it IMO. Quit making me consider alternate POV's!!

However, some incidents of random, senseless vandalism against a pristine sports car stand out as bordom, lack of respect for other's property compounded by childish envy. It's not hard to recognize them for what they are.

I have 10 DEEP scratches on my drivers side roof about 8" in length from someone sliding a box full of crap onto my car and then sliding it off after putting the rest of their crap into their shitty Saturn.
Unfortunately I was all the way accross the parking lot coming out of the Costco when I saw them doing this. Fortunately I did get their license plate #as they were pulling away. I will have my revenge one day when I see that car again.
4 slashed tires, key marks from front to rear bumper on both sides, and broken head / tail lamps sounds about right to me...
My good friend has something he always says which rings really true in these circumstances... "If they don't pay they will never change"
It's very true... These people must be forced to pay at some point in such a horrible way that they will question everything they ever do on the road from that day forward. You must commit such an hainous act upon their vehicle that they don't think it's random vandolism and are forced to recall what they may have done to **** someone off...
One day at school my buddy was waiting for a parking spot, some kid comes and snakes the spot, he says WTF... Kid replies, man I'm so late for class and runs off...
Well guess what, we were late for class too. I bet that kid was late getting home after my buddy slashed all 4 tires, and dumped a 20oz coke down his gas tank... "Moral of this story: You are not more important than anyone else" I bet that kid never steals another parking spot in his entire life.
