I backed it out of the garage the other day with the trunk lid up and liked that I could see through the arch of the front edge while it was up. Nice.

I like the fact there are so many little things to enjoy about the 8.

Having high end performance car owners talk to me about how much they like my 8. I had a Lotus Elise owner chat with me about the 8's and his rx7 today while at a short stop along CA101. He talked about how much he loved his 7's rotary and how he liked the 8. Can't help but like that from a Lotus owner as the Elise was my 2nd choice of toy

P.S. - It's not the first chat with a high end car owner but it is the one that put the biggest smile on my face. I'll add a pic of the 2 cars together later.

Elise owners and RX owners are kindred spirits with smallish engines on light weight chassis. There's something about living in the 8000rpm zone as you dance around corners with your car. Something the large bore engined owners just can't get a grasp.

I've read a few of these pages and didnt see this.
But, I was wondering if the car did this.
When you cut the car off and dont open the door yet, does the radio still play?
Or does it cut off when the car cuts off?

On a 2004 the radio only plays in the On or ACC position of the ignition key. With the key off or out the radio is off, door open or closed. Maybe it's different for the keyless ignition on the 2007.

why would you want the radion to play when the car is off? it just drains the battery....

then just turn the ignition to Acc.

last thing you want is in the Off position and the radio is still running and you walk away for some reason and forgot about it.

That's the general idea of the cutoff when the door opens. You can leave just the radio on so the other accessories aren't on to drain the battery but if you open the door the radio shuts off. My Mom's 1987 caddy did that and it was pretty nice.

Yeah well, my cobalt has it and i love the feature. My family has never had a car that has done this.
Its great when you want to finish a song or listen to the morning radio shows. So just cut off the car and sit to listen.
It cuts off when the driver door opens or after 15 mins of being on. Its great if i need to run in a store fast and leave my bf in there to listen to it since i dont trust him with the keys.

So what do you do......climb out the window?

As far as I can tell, the only thing that has power after the car is turned off is the cooling fan and the window controls......course each of those has a timer as well.

Nah, it's just such an obviously true statement it doesn't need anything else.

The fact that when I turn on the rear demisters, it spits and pops and buzzes like something's going to catch alight back there ...

... it's going into the dealer on Tuesday lol

Don't forget the little swivel-arm that the rear-view mirror is mounted on. I'm 'long in the body', so I sit higher in a seat that someone else of my height, and I'd become used to rear-view mirrors that block my view. I discovered it accidentally while washing it after I'd owned it for over a week. One quick swivel, and Hey Presto! I could see!

And my favourite thing about my (Black) RX8:
Have you seen X-Men 2?
Cyclops had one.
Wolverine STOLE it!
How cool is that?

Even a rotary symbol on the headlamp reflector. Just noticed that detail this past weekend while washing the car and took a step backing thinking how cool that was.

I also like when someone comes to the door to solicit and half way through the sales pitch, they look over and tell me what a nice car I have. That has happened a few times.

What I really love about this car are the minor details in it that really differentiate it from any other Mazda on the road. Just the overall feel of the car... more solid, more detail, and higher quality. It really feels like a car that's much more expensive than what I bought it for, just barely under 21,000 dollars with less than 7k miles on it. The car literally fits the driver like a glove, and it's difficult to find many cars on the road like that.

I also love how it feels like it's a sin to go less than 45.

Not sure if this one has been mentioned yet, but I really appreciate that the trunk has a handle on the inside so that I don't have to touch that nice finish with my grubby hands. Unfortunately some people don't know it's there and still get their grubby hands all over my trunk lid =(

Also, this past weekend I was able to transport a Cosco Superfold ladder in the trunk and through the center console between the 2 back seats.
