The trunk bottom opens up to reveal an ice chest. And if you remove the jack stand, you have a hotdog keeper.

 

I love that. Very convenient. I think they put it in because most coolers don't fit in the narrow trunk opening.

 

What I love the most about the RX8 is the adrenaline rush I get from 7000 to 9000 RPMs. Never been in a car with as much punch at such high RPM's. I love the fact that you can do 80 mph in 3rd gear. In other cars, you have to shift immediately so you don't blow the engine. Now, for the first time, I am able to enjoy the drive in each gear before shifting.

 

The way the DSC catches my slides on the wet 1 meter from the armco in a roundabout, and how it snaps the RX8 into neutral like a wip after suddenly breaking loose at the front, and then at the rear at an uphill fast turn. Ok, this is not a little thing...

NOTE: I was driving my daily twisty section on the wet for the first time, and I admit I pushed a bit too far. My cute Peugeot 205 and my lightweight-for-a-saloon Alfa 156 (both with very neutral and stable chassis for a FWD) were way more progressive and easy to recover in the same conditions (maybe slower speed )

 

This has probably been said a few times.......... but I love the oversized rotors in the front! I think that this is the first thing noticed by car-people.

Ha. Damn (or love) those challenges. I was going to NY on the Turnpike one day and this stupid little civic pulled up and started revving but I was feeling cheery so I ignored it until he got infront of me and started going 55 (on the NJ Turnpike? gargh) so then I blew past him and I was only in 3rd (driving with the tiptronic because my parents wouldn't get me a manual). Silly, silly goose.

Anyway, what I love about the 8 is how if you see another 8 on the road, you automatically have a bond with that driver. I remember coming back from the same trip as mentioned above, a silver 8 with two guys came up behind me. After playing/weaving with traffic for a bit they got in the right lane, I got in the left perfectly parallel to each other and we were doing 95 down most of the turnpike because every car in front of us moved out of the way (it was really sweet). Then he got off at 18 while I continued back to school.

 

I like how the drivers side mat is keyed with a peg. Also I like how it's the only sports car I didn't think felt like a death trap.

I love it how you can get an 8 ft long 4" X 4" fence post in through the boot .

 

I love all the classy touches to the car itself. I love how when you turn the engine off at night, all the lights in the interior turn on. I also love the fact that the car locks itself after about a minute. That way, if you ever forget to lock it, it does it for you. GREAT.

Also a big fan of the headlights when first turned on (xenon lights look badass). The manual gearbox is one of the best out there, and the power seats / lumber support is top notch.

The only thing with the car I don't like is the cruise control. Maybe it's because of it's power, but whenever I accelerate the car from the controls on the steering wheel, it lurches forward with each push of the button. Makes me pretty car sick, so I stopped using it (I still use the cruise control, I just don't use it to accelerate).

 

Talking about the cruise control... I LOVE the fact that it lights up two different colors (amber when its on but not engaged, and green when it is engaged) it gives you a lot more info than other cruise control indicators that I've ever used

 

You know, that you can accelerate the cruise control with the gas peddle.

Say, activate cruise control
Accelerate to say 50,
Press "set"
The press the gas peddle and accelerate to say 60. It now stays at 60. :D

 

Thanks for the info. A little more work than I'd like to normally do, but I guess you're right regarding accelerating using the cruise control without all the car sickness.

 

I think I found that peg in the glove compartment..... still have not figured out how it installs....

 

Not sure if this has been posted yet (probably has), but has anyone noticed that when you park your 8 and take out the key, you can still roll up the windows? PLUS as long as you haven't opened the door yet, and this is the nifty part, the window switches (and ONLY the window switches) are still illuminated, even with the headlights off.

I love the way the Xenon headlights make a perfect arc out in front of the car and how when you go over a bump you see the line made by the arc rise and fall uniformly against a background, very cool...

Oh yes, the look on the face of the other driver when they realize that you ARE going to make that right angle turn in front of them at the speed you are going as they wonder where the rail is that your car is obviously attached to....

this car is the next closest thing to one of those giant battle robots that you get into that become an extension of your body......now if they can only get the mindlink to work so you can take your hands off the wheel......

 

I get the same thing with passengers, I love it.

 

It's a great thing to see your buddy in the passenger seat pressing his "imaginary brake pedal" when you're late braking into a curve.

Yeah, that TPMS system alerted me to a nail-slow-leak immediately...long before I would have seen or felt it. Also, since I got the latest flash with the recall, it appears to burn a bit more oil. I was on a six-hour freeway drive, oil pressure & temp gauges in the normal range, and the red oil-can light came on. Stopped at the next travel plaza and the oil was exactly at the minimum fill line. How nice is that? Filled 'er up and was on my way. No risk of engine damage or being stranded in the boondocks with no oil pressure. (Actually, I had a spare can of oil in the trunk, but still...I didn't know it needed to go into the engine until the light went on)

3) It's fun looking for rotor shapes inside & out~!

4) Unmistakable styling!

5) I hardly ever see another 8' on the road or in a parking lot--mainly G35s, 350zs, Hondas, & Scions.

6) If you look under the wheel well, you can't see the springs!

7) Cool, laser canono looking parking lights

8) The keyless start/entry system! I just to have the card in my pocket! Opening the trunk w/ a botton on the bumper looks like I've a secret switch.

9) How fast the windows/moonroof opens & closes--I used to have a few Hondas & after two months they start struggling just to close/open!

10) How the fog lamps can be set to turn on /off with the headlights

12) Cool red/blue or red/white option for interior lights

13) Almunium pedals, short throw shifter, chrome tipped dual exaust...what else could you ask for? Most other cars, you have to spend heaps just to get the cool little things that come STOCK on our cars! Love it, love it!

You mean the botton thing? On the '06 GTs, there is a card key. This key transmits a signal to the trunk, ignition, doors, & trunk. Depending on where the key is. If it is 2 feet from the doors or trunk, you can either press a "call" button to open the doors/trunk. On the doors it is a small rubber button on the handles. If you press it once from the driver's side, it opens the driver's door. Press it once form the passenger side, it opens both doors. Press it twice from either, it locks & arms the alarm. If you are behind the car, you reach under the bumper, near the licence plate light and there is a small rubber botton. Press it with the key on your person, and it pops the trunk for you. If you are in the cabin with the key, the key could be anywhere in the cabin, you can just turn the **** on the ignition to start the engine. If you really must use a "key" then there is a small key in the card (size of a credit card). You push two bottons on the ignition **** and you can remove it and use the conventional key.

My point is that I poped my truck with the botton to my friends they the were tripping out. Later, the tried to open it with no luck, since the key was on me. Kinda "James Bond" like. Then again, I get amused really easily!
