Talking Just put the deposite down on my RX8!!!

So I was in the purchase forum asking opinions on a couple of 8's (https://www.rx8club.com/purchasing-financing-insurance-56/another-what-do-you-guys-think-thread-04-59k-06-66k-197387/) and I just put a deposite down on one of them.

I went with a '04 Velocity Red one. The kid with the '06 just wouldn't come down off of 11.5K and the delearship that had the '04 negotiated.

It has 59k on the odo., a clean Carfax, and has been serviced by the local Mazda dealer for the past 4 years pretty much like clock work. It has had its recalls done, actually has the campaign sticker under the hood, and seemed to run quite strong.

The only issues it has are a couple of parking lot dings (which a buddy that does body work is going to help with ), the engine cover is missing (big deal), the TPMS light stays on (recently had tires put on so I but the nudged one of the sensors), the keyless remote is missing, and it has a slight pull to the right (buddy with a shop has an alignment machine).

Soooooo down to the brass tacks.......

They were asking 9,950. I thought I saw it online for 9,500 but I was looking at another listing in Auto Trader right below it. It was a repo they got at auction. My bank I am financing it with actually had the last lein on it and my loan officer told me it was one of their repos they auctioned recently. She even told me if 9,950 was a pretty good price since they were the ones that auctioned it (She wouldn't tell me exactly what they got for it, but did emphasize it was a good price based on that).

I drove it, HARD, during the test drive and went in with a TON of knowledge that I gained from this site. Basically told the dealer that I liked the car but 9,950 was to much. I gave him a laundry list of things that I was going to have to do right after purchasing it (plugs, wires, coils, etc.) and his head literally almost spun, I swear. He didn't know half of what he thought about this car. I told him that I would give him $8500 for it and he of course said no way. So I told him to have a good day and I would keep shopping. He came down to 9,500 and I continued to walk and he asked me that magic question...."What will it take to get you in it today? It is going to auction tomorrow." I told him that I would do $9,000 today and not a cent more. He aggreed. I did actually beleive him on teh auction thing. Th ebig auction in my area is tomorrow night and after we signed the deal he called his auction guy on speaker phone and had to pull it and tell him he was sending another car (maybe a load of crap, but a good load of crap if so)

So as of tomorrow I will be the proud owner of a 2004 Velocity Red RX8 with 59,000 miles on it. HOORAY ME!!!!!!!

What do you guys think? (These are the dealer photos I horked from their site. Hence the cheesey Zoom Zoom Zoom crap in the first one! LOL!!!)

Thanks!

Yeah base with appearance package. That is fine with me. Never been a huge fan of leather interior. It gets hot here and that stuff just burns my ***! The sunroof just cuts out my headroom and I am a hair over 6'1".

Man, I love my Sport 07. NO Leather and NO heated seats. So that means no cracking leather and no extra weight. My seats are never ice and are never too hot to sit in with shorts because it's CLOTH. Mmmmmm

Love my Sport :D

Nice pickup dude. That's a great price for her.

haha yeah, leather does kinda suck for those reasons. Kinda makes you want to upgrade to a good set of racing seats just to get rid of em during the extreme temperatures on both ends

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to pick it up and start doing some light modding. Can't do to much since I am probably going to start disecting my '98 240SX. Have to have a pretty reliable daily while it is torn down. It's either that or have to drive teh girlfriends Taurus! HELL NO!

Next thing is working on her getting rid of that thing. LOL
