Sell the 8 or Trade it in?
I have a 2008 rx-8 anniversary edition with every option except for Navigation. I am in the process of buying a 2nd TR8 to restore and I am out of room with no where to keep the 4th car, so I am thinking of selling the RX-8. I am looking at either doing an ebay/private party sale or just wholesaling it to a dealership. Anyone have any experience with these cars in this situation? I am not looking to buy anything from the dealership so I feel the negotiating will be harder, however it will be less of a headache. The car only has 4,000 miles and is in perfect shape, having been regularly serviced and kept in a heated garage. I do not owe a lot of $ on the car, so really just curious if anyone has sold one of these privately and how it went.
Thanks.
Thanks.

w/ only 4000 miles on this car, you'll be way better off selling it privately. the demand for these cars aren't high and used prices are low, so a you'll be guaranteed to get ripped off by a dealer
you must really like tr8's

Even at that mileage, you might get... $10k from a dealer? Give or take a grand... especially if you're just selling it to them. Selling it privately, you could stand to get close to double.

Sell it Privately if you are not in a rush. I sold an RX-8 on ebay and it was a royal pain you only attract low balling ninja's with no money.
In your situation I would try to find someway to store that car in 5 years I would think the value of the 8 actually increase especially in that condition and model.
I have also sold another RX-8 back to the dealer as a straight sell back, they cut me a fair deal at the time but that could have been because I do a ton of business with that dealership. They are not going to try and re sell it so they will give you fair market value based on what current auction prices are going for that car. And Right now they are super cheap...
Best bet is to list it on the forums and sell it on autotrader/craigslist and so forth you are in a major metropolitan area so it should be a bit easier.
