I see a lot of comments on what the car should and shouldn't have. If I don’t like leather that doesn't mean that the car shouldn't have the option. The same goes for the NAV and the moon-roof. Some people on this board are only considering themselves. The car has to appeal to a multitude of individuals. Saying that the RX-8 shouldn’t have NAV, a Moonroof, or power seats is a selfish statement.

I think that most people have pretty much said that it doesn't benefit them personally.
I don't think anybody really means that the car should be without it. I just don't want nav, the rest I do.

... and I'm one of those who will order the NAV and moonroof/sunroof (which ever mazda builds) and power seats with memory would be a nice touch so my wife could have her own setting ... that's if I'd ever let her even drive it! :D
I'm also thinking of getting the less powerful engine, since my wife and I both get our share of speeding tickets - we personally don't need to travel any faster (and that way I can save some money for those other options)

Besides, I don't speed excessivly, usually 10-15 miles over which isn't terrible on the highway. PBA card can take care of that one :p

i've seen many a driver get nabbed for only 10km!!! over the 100km/h limit... effin' cops... wasn't even anyone around!! this guy was just cruisin' by me... i was doin' 105, and he calmly cruised by, they shot him with the radar, and that was that...

You keep them very visible, next to or underneath your driver’s license so the officer will notice them when you pull out your license to show him.
The teacher of the class said that this wasn’t true, just some kind of urban myth. Then someone else in the class said that if it’s true … why was he here taking the course with the rest of us? He said that some the cops are very territorial, He had one for the “Valley” not “Orange County!”
I wonder if that means you’d need one for every different community that you drive through
…Or just never go over 8 miles past the posted speed limit :D … yeah, sure. :p What does everyone else think?

On city streets, I never speed (at least not since I was 16-18 ...
I'll admit that it's the freeway driving that gets me. Especially when traffic is very light with mostly straight road ahead. The posted speed might be 55 or even 65 and I sometimes find myself doing 80-85+ ... and in an old 1990 Ford/Mazda Probe - I'd hate to think what I might accomplish in a RX-8...

So it's a one-time use only, but I can get another if I want... my friend gets 12 a year and has a lot left over after his mom dad and sister

I am so envious!
Hey, does anyone here in the Dallas area know if it works here?
I also need to investigate the laws regarding laser radar detection, jammers and license plate protection from roadside-mounted cameras... I'd have to include that when I plan my budget for the RX-8 - Not that I ever really plan on speeding ... (it can also tie into my james bond/aston martin or batmobile loaded with gadgets fantasy)
It's just that sometimes when I'm not paying constant attention to my speedometer (my old 1990 Prode does not have cruse-control) and I'll glance down at it and get a supprise ... and as my luck would have it, a few seconds later I'll pass a police car off to the side with a radar gun ...
On a more hopeful note, since we've been here in Dallas a little over 4 1/2 years, My wife and I have only received 2 speeding tickets... It's been 2 years since I got stoped. I hope this year can go by for me to stay clean ...
