Was just in an Accident

Hey, whats up everyone. Today at 8:40am this morning, i was in a small 4 car accident. The addicent involved me (04 rx8), 04 black civic, 98 bmw 323 and a suburban. It was along 880 south toward san jose (california). It happened on the 2 to left lane (right next to carpool) and went like this, the civic stopped in front of me, i stopped behind it and the bmw stopped behind me. I was at the stop for about 5 to 10 seconds then was rear ended by the bmw that was rear ended by the suburban then i rear ended the civic. All i could do was breathe hard, wishing this was just a dream. We all turned on our hazdard lights and luckily a tow truck and 2 highway patrol where near, they blocked off the right lanes then we moved to the shoulder. I got out of my car and saw that there was little damage on my 8 and on the civic. My front bumper fitment is off, the front bumper grille cracked on the top right (when facing toward the car) and a few scratches. The civic in front of me only suffered some scratches on the rear bumper, you can see the scratch from my grille on the civic among a few scratches. My rear bumper was damaged on the rear diffuser, scratches and some of the plastic pealing, the inserts for the mufflers are damaged only on the fitment. The rear bumper is scratched where the bmw hit me, no dents that i could see but the fitment is off again. Some of the paint is pealing and there are scratches near the license plate. The only car the suffered heavy damage was the bmw, rear of the car was smashed by the suburban and the front bumper suffered moderate damage, coolant was leaking and wasnt drivable anymore. The suburban only suffered one medium sized dent on his chrome bumper. We were all lucky to be unharmed. I only have a little back pain on the lower back. I was suprised of the little damage the 8 has, engine is okae, lights work fine, only the fitment and a wierd feel on the ride. When turning the steering wheel counter clockwise, it feels lgihter, like its easier to rotate it counter clockwise, dont know if its a good thing or not or its just me being paranoid. Well, im shacken up pretty badly considering this is my first accident. My mazdaspeed exhaust suffered a sractch on the left muffler on the top and it feels a little loose. An inspector is going to come to moy house tomorrow to look at the car and give me an estimate. Well, i just needed to tell you guys and gals, i needed to vent this out. Im still shaken up but suprised that the 8 is pretty good considering the images in my head of my car all messed up. Hopefully my poor baby will get all fixed up soon, it hurts for me to see my car like that. And i'm guessing that me and the 2 people behind me are gonna be considered at fault. *sigh*

so its pretty much the Suburban's fault (its a Chevy, right?)

Damn the driver ! Lucky no one was hurt.

Sorry to hear you are your 8 was shaken up. Hope you get it all sorted out soon. Why are you and the two drivers behind you considered at fault? Isn't that a little rediculous?

Probably because we where close to each other and the accidents could of been avoided if we had more distance between each other. I'm hoping this is not the case though. I dont need a mark on my record because of this.

The pictures in your vbgarage show you don't have a MS front bumper. As long as insurance is paying all or at least most, time to upgrade.
Turn this lemon into lemonade.

Exactly what i was thinking. Instead of replacing my front and rear bumper with oem, i'm just gonna use the money to get the mazdaspeed kit and fix the fitments of the front and rear bumper.

Not sure about Cali, but I grew up in GA and there the last person to arrive at the party pays the bill.

I've been in one of those! That sucks. Glad to hear you have little to no pain. I got whiplash real bad. Thank goodness there's such minor damage. Could've been worse. The BMW took the brunt of that one. Good luck.

Thanks! It could of been worst but luckily it was a really small accident. In terms of no one got hurt and only the bmw was seriously damaged. I'm thinking about going to a spa and getting a massage for the back pain.

Chrisbert, i'm hoping you're right about that! Haha, i really don't need to pay more bills than i already have.

Thanks, hows your whiplash? You doing alright now? The bmw did take the brunt of it, but the lady that was driving it was okae, she wasn't shaken up as much as me or the driver in front of me.

I think if you rear ended someone you would receive a point. Anyways sorry to hear there has been two locals now getting into a car accident. You and maybeashinka. His car is totaled, so it could be worse. Hope you're still able to make it to our meet at milpitas. Sorry to hear once again, but cars can be fixed you be alright.

i'm pretty sure you wont be found at fault for this. it seems as long as your vehicle is stopped safely, you cant be blamed for any impact. sorry to hear the bad news.

Same accident happened to me. I stopped, car behind me hit and rammed me into the car ahead. I was not at fault.

Sorry to hear that, glad you're ok. The traffic on the freeways in Ca can be hell sometimes. When I was out in LA last summer, I almost rear ended a few people. Traffic goes from 90mph to 0mph without warning. Took some getting used too. I just bashed my eight a couple weeks ago so I feel your pain. Your eight isn't silver is it?

Same thing happened to a friend of mine about 5 years ago. He was stopped at a red light intersection and a Station Wagon blasted into his car and started a chain reaction that ended up involving 4 other cars. The only one that was sited was the Station Wagon driver.

Thanks everyone! It sucked, scared the living daylights out of me. but yeah, i'm okae, my car is alright, still driveable, i still can't believe that the bmw that was behind me got totaled and my 8 inflicted damage on the bmw front end like that. It caused the bmw's radiator to puncture and fluids where leaking all over. About the meet this saturday, i dont think i'll be able to make it, the inspector for the insurance is going to see my car. But i'm setting up a meet in April 2 rotary extreme, we got the green light and it'll be on april 8th at 1 or 2pm. BBQ and everything. I hope my car will be fixed by then. Hopefully insurance will give me enough to get a mazdaspeed front and rear! Haha. But yeah, i got to check my alignment, my moonroof has some wierd rattaling sounds and theres a little rattaling sounds in my interior (it might just be the coins in the change holder). But yeah, i'll keep you guys updated and thanks for the support!
